I have the same problem with my 2008 Toyota Camry, The Sun Visor on driver’s side never seem to work just correctly, finally it broke.

Sue Watson says:

I wish I would have found this before I just bought the new visor. My wife has a 2007 Camry. Well at least I can replace it correctly now.

Laura Pearson says:

Yep! Same here with my ’07 Camry. I had to use Velcro for a while. But the glue kept giving up and the visor fell in my face while driving, again and again and again! It drove me nuts.

unoriginalname24 says:

Thanks, I just had this happen to me today. Everyone in the US having this problem, please report this to the DOT. You can find the form by googling “File a Safety Complaint NHTSA”

Irma Reyes says:

Very good instructions same problem with my Camry I need to fix this ASAP…

Will Lipscombe says:

Hi Everybody,
(Final post follow up)
In my earlier post of about a month ago I said that I would reply back with the results AFTER my visit to my local Toyota Dealership for this same issue of a broken drivers side sun visor.
I made an appointment at Beaverton Toyota and I took our 2007 Camry SE in.
They were happy to replace our Drivers Side Sun Visor for FREE and it took only about 40 minutes. They even washed our Camry as well.
I am VERY happy with Toyota overall.

matu4251 says:

well, it worked like a charm 🙂 And yes, I’ve seen videos for Mazda models.

peterlution says:

Yes. When I had my problem couple years ago, I Google it and found many complaints but no solution.I am glad that my video helped many people. Cheers!

peterlution says:

Sorry to hear that. Yeah, now a days many models share the same part.some times even cross manufacturers.

mynovelmy says:

Typo: it’s camry not campy

mynovelmy says:

The exact same thing happened to my sister’s 2011 campy car. Thank you for your great instructions!

R Armstrong says:

Thanks for this. Our 2008 Toyota Camry driver’s side visor just “fell” into my line of sight while driving. I was just advised by the local Toyota dealership here in Ontario, Canada that it will cost $165.00 just for the part. When I asked if he was aware of any other cases, he told me no. I was concerned about the safety aspect, so I am glad Google led me to your video and comments.

matu4251 says:

Thanks a lot. Same problem with my wife’s Venza.

ken geiger says:

USED YOUR METHOD AND WORKER JUST FINE.

Went to Toyota Canada and they disavowed all knowledge. No program hear and this is typical of Toyota Canada, dragging their feet as they have done on other serious issues. Not smart customer relations IMHO.

risk822 says:

Was it to snap it back in having some trouble with the clips. On my car they stayed in

Keith Gibbons says:

Same happened on my ’08 Camry. Toyota won’t honor the e tended warranty because ours is a Japanese build and not the American build (VIN starts with a ‘J’ and not a ‘4’. Even spoke directly to the Service Manager who said his hands are tied and referred me to Toyota’s 800 hotline. In his defense he told me if I bought a new part either from him or a 3rd party, he would install it personally for no labor cost. Still, will never buy another Toyota. 2 recalls, bad front brakes & poor AC. Boo!

sinasadri says:

Worked for me, thank you

Will Lipscombe says:

Same issue on our 2007 Camry SE, (with 74,362 miles) drivers side sun visor broke and now it hangs down all the time and it won’t stay up. I’m going to our local Toyota dealership (where we bought and ALWAYS have our Camry serviced exclusively) in two days. We shall see if Toyota will do the right thing and replace it for free?? Otherwise I will try this repair because I am not going to spend $85.32 (dealership parts quote) to buy a new one. I will post the results of what Toyota says.

risk822 says:

been looking for a diy. took wifes 2011 to the dealer and they refused to do it saying this modle wasn’t covered in the recall $110 to replace it.

Sliverbane says:

This happened two weeks ago on the passenger side of my 07 Camry. It’s slowly happening to the drivers side. Thanks for the video. Gives me hope I can fix this!!

J Cords says:

Hard to fallow with the Mozart lol

Brian Lee says:

There is a bulletin from Toyota. Google “Toyota Visor Recall” and scroll for the “Warranty Policy Bulletin” pdf. Hopefully that should cover the argument with the dealer.

7227661480 says:

I tried my Toyota Right Dealership (at bell Road in Scottsdale) and they refused to acknowledge the problem and said it was out of warranty.

This is the second time this has occurred. First time I paid over $100 to get it replaced.

Thanks to the above posting that I was able to resore the visor and keep my wife happy.

Brian Lee says:

On vacation when the visor in the ’08 Camry broke and would stay in the down position. Followed the directions to take the visor off and made the repairs. Didn’t have a drill or screws handy but used Guerrilla Tape to mend the two pieces together. After 4 days the visor is fully functional and will get this to the dealer for the recall ASAP. Good emergency fix. I keep a small roll of Guerrilla Tape in the car and it came through on this emergency! Think Apollo 13! Thanks for the video.

crystal Morales says:

Will they fix it on a 2011 camry for free?

peterlution says:

Actually, even though Toyota refuse to issue recall, but it acknowledged the problem. You can visit their dealership and they will replace the unit free of charge. Good luck!

MsLizLizzard says:

Thanks for this! I have the same issue and wasn’t sure what to do/how to fix it without costing an arm and a leg from Toyota.

peterlution says:

Thanks! Yeah Toyota refuse to issue a recall but acknowledged the problem. Customer can go to their dealership to have it replaced for free.

winie613 says:

It’s good to see there are still some handy people out there, nice job. Toyota has to come clean with this issue the same thing happened to my 2008 hybrid Camry.

Driven1205 says:

Same thing happened with my 2008 Camry. Please file a complaint so the government will issue a recall notice and the part will be replaced for free. This is a major safety hazard!

peterlution says:

Not sure about that. I noticed that Toyota is recognized that 2007 and later models. But it won’t harm to give it a try.

Rafael Shin says:

hey i have a 2002 camry , but do you think if i call any toyota dealership, they would replace it??

peterlution says:

Good to hear. I will ask the dealership to replace mine next time when I send my car for service.

arvindsundar says:

Just got both visors replaced on my 2008 Toyota Camry hybrid for free at the dealer. The visor replacement is part if an extended warranty recall if one or both are broken. You just need to save your old visors and give it to the dealer.

peterlution says:

Glad to here that you have your own solution, but sad to see another victim. Toyota used to have very high quality but this one they cut corner way too deep. 🙁

peter espinoza says:

Thanks, I found a solution to a problem I thought only myself dealt with. I came to realize I am not alone.
