5 Things You Didn't Know About Your Modern Toyota and Lexus

A Toyota Master Diagnostic Technician Shares 5 Things You Didn’t Know About Your Modern Toyota and Lexus Including some noises, hidden features and more.

In this video I share with you some tips and hidden features found in Modern Toyota Vehicles. These are things I think every Toyota Owner should know.

We start with the No.1 question asked by The Car Care Nut Community which is noise when the car is parked.

Then we move into a simple one, the holder for the gas cap.

I also cover a simple way to shut off the annoying beeping from Smart Key Toyota models.

We’ll also talk about the 2 modes of electronic parking brake.

Lastly we’ll turn out attention to Toyota Hybrids and the noises they make.

And as a bonus for the DIY mechanics in the community, I will share some tips on maintenance.

I ended up with an IS250 because I wanted the hardtop convertible, and the 350 was not available in my country.

it only has 45,000 miles on it even though it's a 2010, but having seen your recommendations recently, I am probably going to clean it up a bit and then sell it.

I don't want to spend a fortune on engine repairs.

I have seen you rave about certain years of the Toyota avalon, as well as speaking quite well of its Lexus brother, the ES.

so my question for you, and perhaps this would make for an interesting comparison video, is how much more would you pay for the Lexus ES over the Toyota Avalon if everything about them was otherwise the same. same year, same mileage, same condition, in your opinion how much extra would the Lexus be worth?

you probably couldn't put together a whole video just based on that, but it might be an interesting video to compare the Toyota and Lexus siblings to see whether the Lexus IS significantly better than it's Toyota based counterpart, and if so, how much of a premium it should actually command.

John Smith says:

Thanks so much for your video.
My vehicles have minimal running so I won't make it to 60miles for a long time. Should I change the coolant every 6years?

CHRIS TAKAMATSU says:

Thank you, great video! When you park on an incline, will the auto parking brake help against engine mounts and transmission mounts being torqued? With manual parking brake, we apply the parking brake first. Then we take our foot off the brake pedal. Then reverse this procedure when we are ready to drive off the incline. Thanks again!

I have a 72 monte carlo and I can tell you the gasoline smell is real.

# 6 ya ought to have bought a Honda!!!!

Who Knows says:

My dealership absolutely does overfill engine oil. Mine's above the top hole in the dipstick when the engine is overnight cold the next morning. According to him, it should be half way between the holes. Shouldn't be a future concern for me, though, since my free Toyota Care is over and I'll be doing my own oil changes from now on.

Ken Reather says:

I just had 2021 Tacoma serviced at dealer, cold in the garage its above the full mark an inch. Should I take it back?

Plane Fan says:

I used to hear that buzzing noise and thought it was coming from my garage light and opener

W. Preston says:

As always, such an informative video!
I do have a follow-up question about Toyota's evap system. My '04 Toyota Avalon's CHECK ENGINE (CEL) along with TRAC/VSC dash lights came on. My trusted mechanic determined it needs charcoal canister replaced & it's scheduled in 2 wks.
Do all Toyota vehicles disable VSC/TRAC any time CEL illuminates??
It's ridiculous I don't have access to these safety features until the charcoal canister is replaced. Thanks.

Marcia Siste says:

Hi Amd! This week ( Apr 5th 2022) I read at Canadian online news, that some 2019-2022 Hybrid Rav4’s owners, had a big problem with a high voltage cable that got corroded. This cable is very expensive (CAD$6800), not covered by insurance, neither easily found in case you need to replace it. Can you tell something about this? Is it possible to prevent such corrosion? Thanks a lot!

Midi Man says:

Instigating fact about the gas cap holder but my 1990 Acura and my 1989 Honda had one Did Honda get ahead of Toyota on this?

I have never checked my oil hot. Oil will be on top and in and in the engine. If your oil is cold and on the top mark you are good.
