Awesome work. I read that the dealer pays 1.4 hours for that job. How long
did that take you in your bay?

Paul Coggeshall says:

Damn, bad ass video.. strait up!

David Camacho says:

+JLUDE01, my 07 camry has the same issue. Did water pump replacement fix
the noise?

schmiess says:

Very well made and professional video… which is a breath of fresh air.
Thanks for your efforts.

themo8370 says:

Do you have a theory on what causes this to happen? Non-Toyota Coolant?
Lack of coolant change?

themo8370 says:

How often do you see the threads in the block strip on these 2AZ-FE engines?

Dailydriven79 says:

The head bolts, design flaw I guess, I’ve seen more people talking about it
online than I’ve actually seen in my bay. Water pump failures started big
time with the introduction of the pink “Super Long Life Coolant.”

Dailydriven79 says:

Head bolts pulling out? I’ve done two; the first one turned out fine, the
second, not so good. I’ve seen guys just replace the motor with a used one
over it and honestly it’s not a bad call, installing inserts in the block
is a lot of work and it may not work. Toyota has released a service
bulletin on it and it states the four holes at the corners of the block
can’t be inserted due to how close they are to the coolant jacket.

Dailydriven79 says:

yup, and that’s what we all use in our own toyotas.

jennifer woods says:

Thanks for the video. I’m not about to pay the $400 to have someone do
this. I found a friend who’s going to do it, all I need to buy is the part
and a case of beer. The original mechanic told me 3 hours for labor. Seems
high.

Dailydriven79 says:

Toyotas’ F.I.P.G. sealer, I put a link to a picture of it in the
description.

Anthony Brown says:

Thanks for the video…..made the job super easy having seen it done so
flawlessly.

Dailydriven79 says:

Maybe one a week, it’s that pink coolant, I do lots of water pumps these
days.

gmc54850 says:

what brand and type sealant are youing on the camry water pump

JLUDE01 says:

I have a 2007 Camry that I suspect a bad water pump bearing on. Seems
pretty common. I have a rattling sound on cold start coming from that area
that gets only marginally better when the engine is warm. I’m going to
remove the belt and start the engine. If the sound is gone I’m going to
have a 90% chance it’s the water pump.

Dailydriven79 says:

I added a link in the description, check it out, it changed my life!

harsha806 says:

how often you get 2AZ-FE water pump jobs? when i use to work at a parts
store i couldn’t believe how often we sell those water pumps.

harsha806 says:

wow same issue that GM is having because of dexcool. i have a 98 Avalon and
i actually bought coolant from Toyota to do a coolant flush. do they still
have the red coolant that they used for years?

Dailydriven79 says:

I think book time is about 1.8 hours, by the time customers buy the parts
and labor from a dealer, the repair is about $400. I would charge 2 hours
on the side.

Bondo says:

I see you adding coolant to what looks like an installed radiator cap. What
is that and what does it do?
