Gatorsrok says:

stil doesnt make sense it looked like he was tightening them…..

myhomeboy says:

Thank you a million for this video. You’ve really done me a huge favor by uploading this. I hope you have a great year!!! cheers*

Richard Z says:

That shit was easy. Thanks.

APDTY says:

The whole video is not mirrored, just the parts where we worked on the other side.

Pstand38 says:

Please correct me but if the video is mirrored then you are actually hammering down to loosen the caliper bolts?

LifelongCamper says:

Just so others can learn from my stupidity &know what does NOT work: Apply heat to the “stuck” pin areas-pins didn’t budge. Twist the pins with vise grips- nope. Use a sawzaw and cut the pins to try to knock them out from the other and shorter direction-nope. Spray and soak overnight with the stuff thats supposed to free up rusted parts. Last resort: bought a new caliper( it came with new pins) thanks for all your help ADPTY!

APDTY says:

I would not recommend applying heat to a brake caliper, if it gets too hot you can damage the internal seals on the piston, which is not good. If the pins absolutely will not come out, replacing the caliper may be the easiest solution.

LifelongCamper says:

Thank-you. My husband has a heat gun and is wondering if that will help free up the pins. (i had done the other side about 5 mos. ago- i know you’re supposed to do at sametime but i was too cold– and we had the same rusted problem, but this side is worse.) im afraid the thing will blow up! thank you again for your help. we’ll go and get a caliper tomorrow! DA

APDTY says:

Hi Donna,, Unfortunately if the pins absolutely will not come out (where they are so rusted and seized in place) you may end up having to replace the calipers. If you mangle the pins too badly, you should be able to buy a “Caliper Hardware Kit” at any local autoparts store. or at apdty . com good luck with it and thanks. – APDTY

LifelongCamper says:

What do you do if the 2 pins that hold the pads in do not come out? And the punch is destroying the pins? otherwise i followed your video without any problem! ( I did not know that you do not have to take the calipers off to change pads on 2004 toyota tacoma!) thanks soooo much Donna

eyeofth3b3hold3r says:

Great video! I got my front wheels off and didn’t know how to get the pads out. I tried taking those four 14 mm bolts out and started losing fluid lol thanks guys!

rightwing65 says:

Just wanted to say thanks a million for the video. I replaced the pads today after watching this video last night. My 1998 Tacoma was EXACTLY as this video showed. Video is awesome.

FYI: 229,000 miles on the ORIGINAL pads. As stated, replaced them today and none of the four pads were worn out. Granted, I commute to work so the majority of miles is freeway travel, but still pretty impressive to me. Thanks again..

APDTY says:

@toyota4life94 The Highlander is very similar, these instructions should get you through the job, if you do rotors you should always replace the pads, the pads break themselves into the rotor that they are used on, new pads should be used to break into your new rotors.

APDTY says:

Glad we were able to help 🙂

380Banshee says:

JOE !! I just replaced the rotors and pads on my 2001 tacoma!! Video was awesome!! thank you! I have spidertrac spacers 2″, use locktite. And I sprayed WD-40 in the lug bolts too for the rotor removal… This truck stops like a dream now….

APDTY says:

They are not reverse threaded, just the video was mirrored. Good observation!

Brian Catalano says:

At the risk of asking a stupid question… when you remove the caliper bolts at 7:24… are they reverse-threaded? I’d have expected them to come out by turning them counter-clockwise? Thanks.

Ice Production says:

Hey thanks a lot. I never change the pads before but today I did it man. Thanks a lot for the video and thanks to you tube.

Tim Pickering says:

I looked up this video cause my brakes were shakin bad. The next morning I picked up the parts. It took just 1 beers time ! Saved a grip. Thanks for the instruction.

supalabra says:
