I do the same thing, but I use black Right Stuff RTV with the O ring when I put it back together
I need to fix mine lol, its been leaving a slowly larger stain on the floor of my shop
All of my Samurais have leaked from that o-ring, when I replace it I smear a paper thin coat of permatex ultra black in that groove to help hold the o-ring in place and to add a little extra seal, so far (knock on balsa) none of the ones I have fixed have ever leaked again, and the first one I fixed nearly 20 years ago first Sammy I ever bought I still have it she still runs and still no leak.
Do you recommend 10w40 over 10w30?
Also, off topic. But is there a thermostat you prefer? Mine seems to stick partially open. Cheap oreilly one lol.
