You do realize that you aren’t suppose to use friction proofing oil in a
motorcycle because they have a wet clutch Also the oil you used is designed
for car engines not motorcycle engines which has a gear box the viscosity
index improvers are certain to get rendered ineffective as time passes as a
result of getting compressed within the clutch system and gears not to
mention the heat that will be generated in the bike could go outside the
heat range of the car oil
Oh yes it does get very hot here (Alice Springs) if only for three months a
year I’m hoping to get back to the cost soon if I do I will be really
trying to get myself a 650 A little oil reading search for (can’t past url
into comments) dr650.zenseeker lubrication calsci.com motorcycleinfo/Oils1
@xAlSharptonx Approx 2.4 litres and boy was that stuff hot. Thanks for
commenting i hope its of some help. Just be careful of the oil filter
spring when you remove the cover and filter.
@ratnest00757 Good for you. What are you riding at the moment? I’ve read a
lot of the the oil debates and theirs heeps. Because temps in this part of
the planet rarely exceed 25degC I am of the opinion that “magnatec 10w40”
is fine in the mighty DR.If there are any specials going on diesel oil next
change I might try that.
@ratnest00757 Hey thanks for your concern. But this Nulon treatment does
not affect wet cluches. As mentioned earlier it bonds metal to metal not
fibre and metal. With regard to the oil. I have had no issues with this oil
and I know of DR650 riders in the outback of AUSTRALIA that use the very
same stuff. Out their it gets very hot believe me. So if they use it so
will I. The oil gets changed every 5000klm’s and is running like clockwork.
@UaEsKnight Thanks. Fuel economy looks like it has improved but really to
soon to tell. Also gear change seems smoother. Will report later.
How do you keep your engine so clean??
wow, theres a lot more oil in that little engine than i though!! thanks for
the video, im sure ill be referencing this later
No problem. Remember it isn’t the DR oil change bible just the way I do
things. Happy riding.
Thanks. Do you still have your DR650?
Thanx a lot for the video

your right as any energy consering oil for a bike is a no no that has moly
in it!
thank you for the video
Just regular washing I guess. Might do the occasional gravel/dirt road but
not often.
