I have a suzuki aerio and it has a similar belt im trying to put it back on
wut would be the easiest way to get it on being a tight fit

MandanaBrother says:

Almost all ‘modern’ auto parts stores will do it for you. @cad91088, call
them up ahead of time if it’s not Autozone, Discount Auto, or Murrays.

tucsonM4 says:

The alternator is free now how do I get it out of the engine compartment?
Found it easier to move the power steering pump to be able to get a socket
on the upper 12mm for the alt. It wanted to round off with an open end
wrench. It was easy to remove the 3 – 12mm bolts for the PSP. One in the
back of it and two in the front. Suzuki gave us access to the two behind
the pulley by putting holes in the pulley. Once you lifted the pump up a
little you can use a socket and ratchet. Thanks for the video

MandanaBrother says:

I pulled it up through the engine, just have to push some lines out of the
way and shimmy it on up.

bloodaxe6 says:

Axel problems, I recently got my axel replaced. And a wheel alignment as
well, but the wheel keeps vibrating as if the tire is out of place… Any
advice?

MandanaBrother says:

I removed it from the passenger side of the car. This is a car in America,
so the Driver is in the left side of the car (if you’re sitting in the
car).

tucsonM4 says:

Make sure the battery has a full charge and no bad cells. I believe
Autozone will do that for you.

tucsonM4 says:

Which lines AC or water?

Tap Backs says:

You Sir are an absolute life saver! Please read my private message of
thanks to you as unfortunately there is not nearly enough room for it here
for all to read…

aleks5005 says:

thanks for the info.. I got to replace one on a 00 esteem tomorrow, so only
2 bolts need to be removed to get the alternator out? Someone said that the
alt. bracket comes off with the alternator, meaning that 3-4 bolts need to
come out, is that true

chrisiswinning1 says:

dude, autozone gave me a major headache, first i went to get a new battery
(under warranty) they gave me a replacement battery twice both with bad
cells, one no water in it. and the alternator they gave me had a fried
diode. they didnt wanna give me my money back and tried to give me store
credit, i talked to the manager and he fully reimbursed me. after all that
i shouldve asked them to test everything but still, seems to me they wanted
to scam me.

MandanaBrother says:

If you’re on the passenger side, looking down, you’ll want to push your
ratchet to the left and down in a counter clockwise motion. Lefty-loosey. I
believe it’s a 12mm, but I can’t recall. Good luck!

AngryKhan says:

my screw is stuck and ive stripped it a little bit trying to use an open
sided wrench to get it off, just the like the one ur using in the video.
Any ideas on how to get the damn thing off? The pully in front of it looks
like it doesnt have any way to come off, but im really not sure. I tried
needlenose pliers and a vice grip as well. The damn thing refuses to come
off and i dont want to strip it any further. When my idler puller seized up
i had to drill off the nut holding it on.

tucsonM4 says:

Sorry got my left/right mixed. Been a long night trying to get this out so
I could get the car back up so someone had a car to go to work this
morning. As it was had to drive her in. Our AC lines are not routed the
same as yours. Did you get it out from passenger side or driver side being
a left drive car.

tucsonM4 says:

Right side of engine? over or under heater hoses left side or right side
near AC lines? Looked at taking cruise control unit out with is mounted
right side firewall but does not look like there will be clearance there. I
know it is going to be a tight one either way. Was going to try through the
bottom by removing the alt bracket. Thanks again. Definitely not as easy as
ones on rotaries.

MandanaBrother says:

Did you replace the battery as well? Perhaps check your fuses also.

theonamous says:

Well I’m this far everthing is off! Except,.. The Top Bolt that keeps it
mounted It;s trying to round the NUT Off! AAAaaahhhhh HAHAHAAAaaa Im Going
down to the ground with my turns..Counter Clock wise! I Think Thats Left?
Cause, I hold a Ratchet turning Left? Even though you cant use a Rachet
cause of that God Forsakin Power Steering Pump “Pulley”…LOL I think of
something and let you know! Cool Video BTW! What size Open end you use? You
Never said? Im using a 12 mm..Hope im not turnin wrong

Chris DeBenedetto says:

I just recently replace the alternator on my Suzuki Esteem and I was just
wondering because the battery light still remained on any idea what it
might be. I ran a voltage test & it came up normal

theonamous says:

Well..The 12 mm was Stripping out! So I put It all back together! I did
Push down on the nut lookin down on the passenger side! But the shit just
stripped anyway! I think the Power Steering Pump was Leakin a lil on it..I
think thats what made it so damn stuck..Anyways thanx for tryin to help it
would have went smooth if it wasn’t for the damn Top Bolt! I’ll update on
the cost and what not!

Blake Saters says:

this was a bitch to take out… i accidently took out 2 bolts i wasnt
suppose to and one the top bolt is missing lolol

tucsonM4 says:

Got it. Took the heater hose lines off at the firewall (clamped them with
needle nose vise grips that have pieces of fuel line so not to damage hose)
and removed fuel lines at firewall(be careful-they can hold pressure wrap a
rag around the supply line when removing try to do it slowly to release any
residual pressure) Alternator came out easily. I tried shimmy past water
hoses but now have a leak at the thermo hsg. Replacing oring on pipe
fitting. Again thanks! I may post one on this aspect.

James Beatty says:

Hey thanks a lot for this video. I’m going to attempt this repair tomorrow.

nightpwner says:

You get a like just for making an esteem video. I gotta do this for a 1.6.

MandanaBrother says:

On the 1.8L we only had to pull out 2 bolts. the one behind that fly wheel
and then one from the bottom of the alternator. We didn’t have to remove
the alternator bracket. You may want to reference my other video as well
(see the description).

MandanaBrother says:

You’ll want to find the pulley that can be used to loosen the tension.
Loosen the tension to take the belt off… then loosen it when you’re
putting the new belt on. If Haynes makes a book for the Aerio I’d suggest
getting it (unfortunately they never made one for the Suzuki Esteem wagons).

MandanaBrother says:

Put the front of your car on jackstands, and then remove the cowling around
the wheel well (should have little plastic pop rivets, you can replace
these with pop rivets you can get at home depot). Next, from under the car,
get to that bolt. I don’t think it’s possible to get it to it from the
top…. also removing that cowling makes a huge difference in available
space.

MandanaBrother says:

I’ve never had problems with Autozone. Could be that particular store.
