top stuff D Ray 🙂 great vids
Yep, been there, done that! Welding a bead to the inside of the outer race also shrinks the race slightly, making it easier to remove.
I would love to see how you get the old races out considering you have that spacer in between the bearings not allowing very much room for a punch to grab an edge. Watched another vid where a guy welds a bead onto the old race for something to beat on to get it out.
Very helpful videos, thanks a lot
Anyone ever have to use zip ties on a cv boot? Any suggestions? Those steel bands included with the boot are very hard to tighten and I don’t seem to trust them. Pipe clamps won’t clear so my options are steel wire or zip ties
My pinch bolt holes and bolts were also stripped for some reason too. Had to put a bolt through with a nut on the end. Held up good.
The press makes it so much easier. Just bought one. I can take mine out and put them in in about 20 min each compared to the hour using hammer and punch. Very valuable tool to have
I don’t see why that would’nt work, I would try to find a lock nut to use just to be safe. Thanks for watchin’.
Hey D-Ray! First I gotta say thanks for posting these awesome videos.. they’re invaluable! I do have a Q though.. I’m doing the front bearings on my wife’s 05 eiger and some 3 of the 4 ball joint pinch bolts are stripped. Is it acceptable to drill out the threads in the knuckle, and replace with slightly longer bolts with locktite, a lock washer and hex nut? (making sure the diameter and amount of smooth shaft is the same) There appears to be ample clearance..
Thanks again,
Paul
HI DRayshop,I just checked my 97 priarie 400 4×4 front wheel bearings & the right side was lose some. now do I change both sides.the left side is tight.thanks steve from new jersey
Friend i just notice that the bearings i bought they have 3 seals instead of 2 , the 3rd one i put it close to the cv joing doing a female with the other seal
thanks for info job went alot easyer keep them comin
Great video buddy. I watched the whole thing
cool good job man
Thanks! I will take a look the next time I get a chance.
nice work looks like the thing has been rode hard and put up wet
Thanks for watchin’ bro! I gotta get over to your channel and catch up on your corvette project.
Speaking of advance, I would check yours. 84 was the last year 200 that had a mechanical advance up on the cam. they tended to wear out and not work right. Also the pulser coil plate up there is adjustable, and if it has moved that will alter the timing too. I have a video called Pt.3 ATC200S How To Adjust The Valves that shows the advance and pulser working correctly. Hope it helps.
Thanks!
Good video Buddy! Thanks!
Hey DRay! I got a question for ya. I have an ’84 TRX200, almost mint shape but lately the engines been overheating in it, even when I’m taking it easy. Any idea what could cause it? Thanks in advance!
You made it look so easy, I almost feel bad for taking my bike to a garage for a bearing replacement instead of doing it myself!
Thanks for the vids regardless, I’ll probably try it myself next time because of ’em!
Thanks bro, Strats are awesome, if I didn’t have my Roadstar, I would probably own a Strat or a Raider. Have a goodun’!
