Here I was trying to figure out how to test the cdi box when it dawned on me. You don’t test the box, you test whats coming in. I will add more details later…

And your point is..?!?
Wow Nice name I have a brother name steve Blair
so your saying both your old cdi and the new cdi are both only putting spark to one side? I can’t explain that but I do have to give you a fair warning about testing your cdi boxes for spark. You want to avoid loading them up without dissapating the charge built up. you run the risk of frying them that way. check carefully the ground connections for the coil that wont fire and then put a meter on the wire coming in to the coil to see if theres 12 volts on crank?
Great video! I am having a problem with an old Virago I’m rebuilding. I purchased an OEM CDI box and two OEM coils. I am getting spark on one of my coils but not the other. To trouble shoot I removed the switched the plug to the coil that IS getting spark to the coil that is NOT getting spark. The test worked and I got spark. Leading me to the conclusion that the CDI box is only distributing information to one side. How is that possible? The aftermarket CDI reacts the same way.
your question is way to vague for me to answer. key on start position, push start button moter turns but doesn’t fire? maybe cdi, maybe bad connection, wont know until you pull plug stick in the boot crank motor with plug against case to see if it sparks. now what you wrote says to me that motor did not spin so that would be a bad switch on handlebars spray with wd-40 to clean connection up. be more specific if you want my help
so would this be my problem if , when i press the button to turn the damn quad on nothing happens ? new battery, the quad it self has been sitting out a while before i ever attempted fixing it . it’s going to by my newest project .
yes im always using my boost battery charger…why..what damage can i cause using it 2 much..i know i can fry my battery..can i damage the cdi box aswel…since i figured it could b my cdi box…i havent tried it since until i get another one…i dont want to hurt nothing else…….im so close…..thanks
yes each individual cylinder has itsd own exit circuit. I have heard of many cases where they fail randomly but not in whole. was it recently jump stated by a running vehicle or boost battery charger?
