Strange Fruit says:

. . . . Surely the whole point of biking Physics is to reduce any
unsprung weight – & not adding to the unpsrung weight which is 250g+ of
liquid .
I’ve ridden bikes from 1982 till 2013 and only ever had 1 puncture and done
a million + miles on road, and production raced biked bikes from 1985-1990
some of which was on TV, so i know about handling & about and what’s
needed – if your needing to rely on a visual indicator of ‘Gloop’ trail to
tell you you’ve have a deflation then you need to take some time on track
to see what a few PSi here & there do.
There’s a a guy near me at Rivington Barn (a NW Sunday bikers Meet) who
offers this service and I’ve always cringed at the ones having tyres filled
with crap !.
Anyway, love the vids mate.
Cheers

Kris Langsdale says:

Hi Del, I have just brought some goop to put in my new tyres on my TDM 900.
Only concern before I put it in is does it cause the wheels to go out of
balance due to the extra weight or unbalanced weight?
Cheers Kris

Zanderoony says:

Great vids Delboy, have you ever used a cycle track pump? I use one instead
of the foot pump, it’s very quick and requires less effort IMO

7heRedBaron says:

Del, one of the tire sealant companies advertises that their sealant
balances the tires automatically and does not require balancing the tires
with wheel weights. Do you have any experience with this?

irontrooper75 says:

Good stuff del. put the goop in my bike with no problems with wobbles or
balancing well worth £8 and hopefully get home after a puncture without
waiting for breakdown people on a busy Sunday

Moonfleet41 says:

@xjburty Blummin is peice of mind Kurt, cant understand the mentality of
those who reject it as dangerous…. very odd…

Rasd4Metta says:

Dude I think I’m watching to many video’s, I’m starting to get deja vu
here! Maybe I just need to rest a little lol haha

Alex Carpenter says:

Hi Del, Got to work this morning 40 miles from home to find what looks like
a bit of wire or shard of metal in my rear tyre. Before I pull it out and
strand myself, I bought some Goop and the intention is to get that stuff
in, then remove the offending article. The tyre has only done 2000 miles
(so has the bike) so it’s still in great nick. Should I fill it with Goop
and then pull out the wire, or pull out the wire first to see if its
actually punctured and then fill it?

Moonfleet41 says:

Hi Alex.. yeah it is a trade off, i like that issue of knowing you wont
rick blowing so much….its just two perfectly good ways to deal with it,
and they both work well….the upside to the plug kit is, ive repaired
three tyres for mates while out on rides, and they all now carry a
kit…and the repair by the roadside it no big shakes, takes about ten
minutes and works every time even in the rain… take care mate.. Del.

xjburty says:

Ive got it in… great product… simple to put in as you have shown…
peace of mind 😉

Moonfleet41 says:

Hi mate, there is a measure of balancing effect by having any thick liquid
inside a tyre, it levels out by the effects of centrifugal force and fills
the low spots to evening out any bumps inside the tyre…..there is a
product called “Dynabeads” that are millions of tiny rubber balls about 3mm
wide that roll about inside the tyre and do the same thing, they also claim
no need for balancing…so maybe it works.. cheers buddy, Del.

Moonfleet41 says:

Sadly mate, only just found this message after work, having had a few
punctures that the Goop fails to seal, I’ve moved over to the externally
fitted plugs, they are a guaranteed fix every time so I would pull out the
shard and if it’s a puncture, fix it with an external plug – beware with
the goop, if it’s a slit rather than a hole then it may not seal it – I
have a video on the plugs if you need it mate

drillyourownhole says:

took my ZX7R to have rear tyre replaced and the previous owner had used
Goop (or equivalent) a lot of the paint on the inside of rim had come off
leaving bare alloy. Fitter said it was due to the moisture in the Goop in
the tyre lifting the crappy Kawasaki paint off :-/ have you ever noticed
any such effect with your bikes?

Alex Carpenter says:

So you’ve given up on the goop then huh? So I take it you’re faced with
fixing a puncture by the side of the road now you run without snot! 🙂
Hmmmm choices choices, well the goops in there now, like you said, it can
retard a blowout which i find comforting. I don’t find it comforting that I
wouldn’t be able to plug it now that the goop is in there, but I guess if
the hole was bigger than a 1/4 inch you probably couldn’t plug it anyway.

Moonfleet41 says:

@irontrooper75 Speically tomorrow aye big boy…lol…. see you ion the
morning mate..0-)

Moonfleet41 says:

@Rasd4Metta You cant bail out, Resistance is futile, you WILL be
assimilated…

Moonfleet41 says:

@Rasd4Metta Dude, bail out while you can, this bike just gets sillier as
time goes by, save yourself before its too late…lol

Rasd4Metta says:

@Moonfleet41 I can’t! It’s to late I’ve already been drown in and I can’t
break free! HELP MEEEEEE…………….

Alex Carpenter says:

Well, I made it home, pulled out the valve and filled it with Goop, pumped
it up which took forever on my single barrel footpump, and then pulled out
the offending article. A sliver of metal the size and shape of your little
fingernail. To my surprise, no hiss, no leaking air and no oozing goo, so
it would appear no puncture! Still, I now have a tyre full of green snot,
which fills me with some confidence if i were to pick up a nail. Are the
plugs, the folding strips, emergency repair vid??

Moonfleet41 says:

Hi mate, well done and lucky you got away with that one… and yeah, the
folding plugs are the ones… they dont work with goop in there as it stops
the glue sticking, its just a choice you make to go with one or the
other… take care mate, Del.

Moonfleet41 says:

Hi there, never heard that one before i have to say, but i do know that a
lot of tyre fitters seem to have a real grudge against that slime sealant,
and i do hear a lot of bile and hatred toward it from them…maybe its
because it stops them selling you a new tyre… plus, the alloy wont rot
inside the tyre, and yes, the paint probably is a bit thin and
underfinished… other than that, its a new one on me… thanks for
watching.. Del.

Alex Carpenter says:

…think I’ve just answered my own question, I’ll leave it in til i’ve got
the goop in, otherwise the air is just gonna escape out the tyre as i try
to pump it up and i’ll never get the tyre inflated. Just a little nerve
racking knowing that there’s something buried in there when you’ve still
got to travel 40 miles to get home! :S
