SuperSenior3211 says:

oh sweet!! money problem solved haha… i nearly got the garage to fit this
bar for me after being told i have to use tipex and drill holes… but
after watching this i’m gonna do it myself and you make look so easy…
thanks! :)

markgoodier says:

Hello Mate. I can’t believe I just watched TWO of your video’s on Motor
bikes… The first was the Seat Cover, and now this on Handle bar
replacement. I have ordered both, bar and seat cover, to install myself.
After watching you, I plan to do my own revamp on my motor bike. THANK YOU
SIR!

divelermentov says:

did you refit the bar ends ?

Question: I’ve just put new bars on my bike, and whenever I hit a bump they
rotate in the clamp. I’ve searched the net to try and figure out how to fix
the problem, and most people have said a shim, but I’ve no idea what/how
they mean to do it. Do you have any handy tips for this issue?

Mio Vaillancourt-Thivierge says:

Hey hi. Unfortunatly on my model (2nd generation of bandit 600) the clock
is mount on a big metal bracket that also support the front fairing. The
horn is also hidding there and removing everything to put a new headlight
is a hell of a lot fun. I will have to let it go and keep it with all the
fairing! Thanks a lot anyway for your help.

Moonfleet41 says:

Hi mate, considering they are nothing more than a method of holding on to
the front end, they, in themselves, have no affect on handling whatsoever
any more than does the seat or the speedo LOL!..but for any bloke over the
height over about 5’10” the Bandit bars are too close making the ride
position a bit cramped, I find the ‘Renthal Road Bike Low’ spec bars
straighten my arms out, give a slider wider stance & allow my back to sit
straight rather than hunched, they are more about comfort, Del

Danny McCloggie says:

Hi Del. Since I’m the original n00b to motorcycle DIY I really love your
videos and how you explain everything in a clear way. I would like to fit
handlebars like yours on my Bandit. My question is; does it effect the
handling if I would cut a bit off the ends to meet the width of the
original bars because I have to get my bike through the garden gate and
there’s no way I could get any wider handlebars than the originals through
the gate. Cheers in advance!

whoamiuk1 . says:

you just made me laugh out loud lol you just put something over the tank to
stop marks getting on the take but i know the bike ends up as a rat bike
hehehehehe

Mio Vaillancourt-Thivierge says:

Alright thanks a lot I’ll have a look on this site. Thank for the help I’m
going to do it shortly and post it on youtube. I didn’t see anyone with a
video of that; maybe as you say it’s too easy to have a how to video!

Mio Vaillancourt-Thivierge says:

Exactly. In fact I maybe put a twin headlight but I think it’s the same
job. I just want to get rid of the fairing and the OEM headlight. I’m
wondering if I have to find another bracket for the speedometer or if I can
use the original.

Rasd4Metta says:

@Moonfleet41 Haha thats to funny man you crack me up!!!! lol

Moonfleet41 says:

Well done Lee, glad to hear it mate, Renthals Rock mate…will have some on
the Triumph soon enough…

Moonfleet41 says:

There’s an easy way round that mate, get her to take her bike test and buy
her a bike of her own, then she’s got no excuse cos you can tell her it’s
for her bike LOL! Well done, buddy, Renthals rule!

egoleech says:

neat little trick I got for “glueing” handles to the bar : hairspray from
your girl. Give it a good two sprays inside. Cool thing about it : If you
are quick the hairspray is kinda liquid-ish at first and hardens out. So
you spray , slip em on quickly and it will harden within a couple of
minutes. to be safe give it 2 hours or so.

BoY860 says:

How can I put this style bar on a sportbike

Charlie Stubbings says:

Hi Del, your tutorials have given me the confidence to get my hands dirty
for the first time and I’m loving it, rebuilt my petcock last week, works a
treat, proper chuffed :O) I have a Mk1 600 Bandit, I love the bike but it
kills my hands, pins and needles, numbness, arm ache etc. I would like to
change the bars and stop the vibrations if possible but I want a higher bar
than standard. Do you know if Renthal mediums or highs would fit on my
Bandit without needing different cables etc? Charlie.

Moonfleet41 says:

maybe i didn’t, i made this video ages ago, but ive been doing the hair
spray trick for years, and you’re right, it works a treat mate..

xxshanepezaxx says:

Iv always drilled mine. I want to try this but id be gutted if i filed the
locator pins off and i couldnt get em to stay still =/ i crashed the once
and it broke my locator pin and the switches used to move few inches after.
Id go to press my horn and it was gone lol. And that was on renthals. O
need some reassurance here lol.

Moonfleet41 says:

@Rasd4Metta Ha ha, PMSL….got tea all over the keys again now…DUH..
which is now even worse because i cant reach it due to my shorter
arms…Bugger..!

Moonfleet41 says:

I don’t have a link, mate, but out of all the different models their model
name is ‘Renthal Road Bike Low’ … order these and they will be exactly
the same… hope that helps, mate, Del

jason hall says:

just a quickie, ive put renthals on few months ago and uses v light end
plugs, the vibration that end weights help with are they felt on the bars
or the rest of the bike ta

Mio Vaillancourt-Thivierge says:

Hi. Nice vid. Really cool and clear. Do you have any video about changing
the headlight of a bandit. I got 2000 bandit 600S and I would like to
change the head light for a more naked style bike. Thanks!

Moonfleet41 says:

Hi John….no, they just want you to buy their over priced renthal bar
caps…. you can fit the OEM bar weights, in fact they help reduce the
vibes you get with Renthals…..the steel OEM bars are bigger ID than the
Renthals so you need to use some Rawl plugs to fit them.. i made a video so
ill send you a link in PM… good luck, Del.

Moonfleet41 says:

Hi mate… well done you, its great to get it done yourself aye…and im
glad the video helped you out, thats what its there for, take care and
thanks for watching mate…. cheers, Del.

boredofitall says:

Alrgghty Del. Have you put the bar end weights onto the Renthals? I hear
they require some bodgery with the rawl screw type things… Do you need
them or are the vibrations in the bars ok? I ask because I am about to
stick some Renthals on the VFR.

apx5777 says:

In the end they are solid:) drilled the bar and fitted replacement pin
where I’d filed off on the throttle side (on CB600 Hornet its a metal pin
rather than plastic)

2wheelsteve says:

I knew a guy who put grease on to protect the bits under the clapm, he had
to take them off and clean off the grease after the bars spun when he
braked hard haha, nice vid mate 🙂

boredofitall says:

@Moonfleet41 – Cool, I will look for the video if it’s on your playlist.
Thanks Del, you’re always such a help and always so generous and
enthusiastic. Props dude!

Tony Biddulph says:

Cheers Del, love the video by the way. Keep it up.

Moonfleet41 says:

Run the bike till it’s burning hot full working temperature, cut the fuel
off and let the carbs run dry until the engine coughs and stops, then there
is nothing in the fuel system to go ‘gunky’, but actually fill the tank to
the brim with cheap petrol for storage to stop condensation water rusting
the inside, then dump it and fill with fresh in the spring…and change the
oil before you are going to use it, not before you lay it up as that will
go stale too! PS lift it off the ground too! Del

Ashley Buttle says:

Thanks for the vid Delboy. when I did mine, instead of foil, I used
Self-Amalgamating tape. no glue to go off in the heat and when done up I
can’t move the controls no matter how hard I try. 🙂

CruzinKrispy says:

you may want to mention to make sure the the cables dont bind or tug
because of the movement of the controls. also if you dont want wait for the
wd40 to dry on the grips or have the extremely tight fit grips like the pro
grips you can use a air compressor with a air nozzle fitting to get the
grips sliding.

2wheelsteve says:

Drill them, much better for making them lightweight and you can store stuff
in the holes, drill them using a 3/4″ drill bit maybe about 30 holes right
along the bars 🙂
