I used a strap wrench, but if worst comes to worst, you can stick a long
screwdriver through the filter – not recommended, but if you have to.

You will never be able to remove the filter without making a mess….every
new Suzuki sucks to change oil on. Not all mechanics are hacks. I am prob
the only Suzki tech that takes pride in fixing these vehicles.

redonKiLaus says:

I added it to my Amazon cart. Thanks for the great advice!

Tyler Small says:

Ive never removed the filter first before draining the pan. By draining the
pan first, removes a lot of the oil from the filter at the same time.

larsonstephen says:

if you punch a hole in old filter before you remove it you can catch to oil
with no problem

redonKiLaus says:

I love the idea, but my only concern would be damaging the oil filter
mount.

redonKiLaus says:

I’ll try that next time. I used to drain the oil before removing the
filter, but with some new vehicles, the filters are so hard to get to that
I’m afraid I may drop the filter into the oil drain pan as I work.
