Hello Duncan, I missed this stream unfortunately, but can't wait for the next one to ask: is there a good way to get rid of the "rev.hang" between gear switches on GD STI 2007 2.5 USDM? Actually, the question is rather generic – is it a factory tuning feature or something is broken that needs fixing? 🙂

Hi Duncan, great q&a session once again. I never get to listen live so catch up while I’m driving. Question, If after mapping for a decat and it’s turn out to drone too much, would you need to tweak the map if I put a resonator in? I assume not but what’s your opinion? Thanks Dan.

Q: 2.35 running about 550hp, 2 bar on a GT30. Turbo is about 12 years old at this point, are there big gains from updating the turbo?

@bunsofsteeeel says:

Thanks Duncan very interesting as always I’m not going to pretend I understood everything you said though lol, do you think it’s worth deleting the secondary air pump on a va sti? Thanks

Hi Duncan,

I have a 2007 Impreza STI, forged, 450 BHP with Exedy Twin Plate Clutch.

I find the clutch bite point to be inconsistent and from what I understand, the master cylinder and/or slave cylinder has hydraulic damping and some say this is the cause. I'm tempted to remove the damping (either by modding or replacing with more traditional parts) and run a braided hose direct from master to slave (the OEM hard pipes seem to run a weird and long route, doubling back on itself). What's your thoughts please?

Have seen the videos of _BaderBuiltRacing running 1000bhp on stock ej257 short block?

@PedroFTeixeira says:

So many people asking about O2 sensors. The O2 sensors are so cheap…. just replace it with a new one, they are probably close to 20 years old now.
It's a lot worse replacing a MAF, cost wise.

Hi Duncan, sorry I've not managed to make it to the streams recently, I now don't get in from work until 9 on a Wednesday lol
I've noticed recently on my 06 hawk that I have hesitation on part throttle. Low acceleration is fine, wot is still as mint as the day you tuned it… but say 25-40% throttle with boost only hitting under 10psi I notice 1 or 2 points of hesitation in each gear.
Time to replace the MAF? Or something else at play?
Thanks

What is the reason for the 2.5L liners to split, cylinder pressure alone? Seems a bit like a luck of a draw. My freshly rebuilt 10mm closed deck block just split the cyl 4 liner and the split is spectacular, I call it the Mariana Trench. Was running about 1.8bar on 50%+ ethanol. FML.

@michaelkazi says:

Hi Duncan. I wanted to ask if there is anything else on a v6 wrx that could limit boost to 0.5bar. Ive tried maxing wastegate duty cycles, swapping solenoids, pulling the reference line from the wastegate, checked for boost leaks with no luck

Hey Duncan, I am trying to tune my ej20x sti hatch. I am having issues with feedback knock up to -4,12 in the 3500-4000 rpm range even tho I have pulled 4 deg of timing all around from a jdm lggt basemap. I am running shell 94 with octane booster, in Canada. I will try pulling some more timing but it seems a little excessive. I also have a hesitation issue above 5000 rpm and cylinder 1 and 3 will also see some counts of misfire. I found out I have a bad ground, going from battery to chassis which is really corroded and am gonna fix that this weekend. My question is can that ground cause is misfire and can a misfire cause detonation? Engine was great compression when I got it almost 6-7 months ago and I replaced the spark plugs then too. It is running all sti components other than long block. afrs target is 11.1 and it meets the targets just fine. No mods to it.

Q. Do the Prodrive sports cats fit all newage models or are there different ones for td04 or vf turbo fitment? Looking for one to fit 2.5 wrx hawkeye. Thankyou

@nickyear-w7749 says:

Hey Duncan I sent my map and some logs via email .

Also, my FSti had its engine built by Triton – stock block, rods and crank, RCM Low X pistons, ARP head studs, RCM HGs. Car has stock turbo, intake, intercooler, etc and makes around 325BHP. What's the cheapest option for adding more power and what's a safe limit for the engine with that config? Thanks!

@PacoJones-SG9 says:

Top video, good to see some Forester questions. Here are a couple more: Is it possible to retrofit cruise to a FSTi? And is the torque bias on the FSTi 50/50 or is it rear biased? Thanks!
