Seems to me the Phillips screws on the oil pump rear cover were not correctly installed into properly cleaned/degreased threaded holes with correctly applied THREAD LOCKER adhesive on the screws
The black seals made of nytril are crap. They shrink and harden up. Best to use the brown ones which are viton on the crank and camshaft seals. Also when installing the rear main seal on the crankshaft of a Subaru, use a 3inch PVC pipe cap to tap it in. Trust me, I've learned this lesson the hard way.
Only needed to own one Subaru to realize the boxer engine didn't catch on for good reason. Its advantages make sense in a Porsche but zero sense in a eco box with a rubber brand for a transmission.
Across.. not acrost
The vexatious undersized fasteners , there is room there for a larger oil pump capable of lasting till engine rebuild .
25 cents worth of loctite at the assembly line.
My 2011 Subaru did this, should have been a recall! Love you channel.

How does an engine make it out of the factory with no locktite?
Great tip. Thanks for the heads up.
Why I don't own a scooby doo.
Why no locktite. Wtf subaru
How can Honda make such a reliable boxer engine for its Gold Wing models since 1975 and Subaru not get the simplist things right on theirs.
Priceless
Keep th shorts coming
Subaru quality shines again !!
Sadly this is super common. Always make sure to thread locker those little Phillips head screws!!
You got time for some questions/diagnoses?
I’ll pay for your time
At least this one gave them a warning it was backing out the screws. You usually don't find out until it spins a bearing.
Thanks for the tip
Subarus from the eighties and nineties seemed to have no problems. My folks owned a few and only changed the oil while owning them.
The Subaru Boxer engine….Optimized for failure. Friends don't let friends drive Subarus.
U wanna play dont cry ,pay
Free tip Sunday:.Dont buy Subarus!

Common issue. Put loctite on the screws and you’ll be good
Then bobs your uncle
