SUBARU BRZ ALL KEYS LOST PROGRAMMING EEPROM

SUBARU BRZ ALL KEYS LOST PROGRAMMING EEPROM

Hey guys! In today’s video we take a look at a 2013 Subaru BRZ. The owner of the vehicle lost his only key, so we were asked to come see if we could make a new one. After trying to program the key via OBD2, I quickly realized that this job was going to require more than just a simple programmer. Follow along as I show you how I used the Autel IM508 and the XP400 Pro to add an Xhorse XM38 Universal Smart key to this vehicle and get him back on the road!

@mikedonahue4033 says:

Outstanding work, Eric. You da man!

@moseschege6139 says:

Always impressive . KEEP UP.

@gianfrancoa says:

The owner had only one key and lost it. Then he proceeds to pay Eric for a complicated Eprom read and he gets ONLY ONE KEY, instead of two. I guess some people don't learn from their mistakes!!!

@marcosb2097 says:

Man, you are such a nerd!
Good job!

@todamoon8832 says:

Where did you learn this I’m interested

@alexismarcyting5340 says:

where did you learn programming?

@aleskyfinis1025 says:

Like videos n good afternoon

@Eremon1 says:

It's crap like this that keeps me from ever buying newer cars with too much computer control without a shred of logic.

Thanks to folks like Eric, at least some folks can get back on the road with their over engineered ewaste wagons.

@IanHurford says:

Great job as always, prefect fix.

@claudiosantana3320 says:

Great share, very thorough as usual thanks!

@pyralux01 says:

"Hey….I just found the old key"……………………

@jav261 says:

Probably my favorite way of generating keys. bmw, mercedes,vw/audi eeproming keys always makes me feel good. Its good money too. Dont think locksmiths are going anywhere or youre going to be up against a lot of competition. If you tackle the hard stuff and go with the flow of tech you will be the one who gets paid! Knowledge in this is very valuable

@gilron9585 says:

wonder if they do the same soldering in the dealership ? (maybe they just replace the box and know the codes for the new one?)

@jianbinchen2881 says:

same as airbag ecu

@skinner4531 says:

Awesome job

@Garth2011 says:

I don't see any insurance rates going down because of this technology but the cost of the vehicle and the maintenance is up for car owners.

@1976Datsun says:

The deepest dive in to key programming ever. I used to think using Forscan to erase all keys and start over on an older Ford was complicated. No more.

@charritolopez8223 says:

Mis respetos amigo buen trabajo, que pases un bendecido dia

@eddiereichel9354 says:

Just starting video and Im gonna bet that dude only gets 1 key.

@kpfalconi says:

Do you know if Xhorse is going the autel route and requiring a VSP license with their tool?

@mikem5823 says:

you need to get a hot air soldering station..

We automotive locksmiths (actually one of my guys) had to make a key for the Toyota version. The interesting thing is the chip designation it used also is a Subaru designation but completely different chips. In other words Toyota and Subaru use the same chip letter but are completely different. He couldn't get it going using Toyota programming. He finally figured out that the Toyota model uses a Subaru immo and chip. We have never seen this before but this car is a collab. We had to order the correct FOB. Had a Toyota emblem but Subaru chip. I just spoke to him and verified he did everything through the DLC port. No eeprom work required on the Toyota version. He used an Autel 608 which had the same key functions as a 508. We would charge $600 for doing what you did BTW. Our cheapest lost key is $250. We also use about 90% OEM fobs and keys. We had too many issues with aftermarkets. We also do not Lishi. If the lock is easy to pull meaning no door panel we do that. If it involves more we get codes from NASTF or a code broker. I realize this is a side gig for you but we run 80-150 of these calls a week. This is all we do so we don't have time to Lishi and possibly have it not work and waste a lot of time. We pay for codes and that's built into our pricing. We are mobile only. Sometimes we get calls for duplicates and I tell the people it will probably be cheaper to go to a brick and mortar instead of paying us for a service call. We also stopped doing rekeys and repairs. We just do lockouts and lost keys. It keeps us busy enough just doing that.

Great video Eric.

@Gary_in_NoVA says:

‘$200 for a key from the dealer’? Try double that around here.

@Gary_in_NoVA says:

Wow. Impressive! No idea the ‘all keys lost’ process was so involved.

@4900dk says:

Impressive repair considering you don’t use a hot air station
