That definition of insanity you mentioned, thats Einstein’s definition of
insanity :)
I hate working on new vehicles much rather work on old trucks and tractors
Hey Brian I just bought a 2014 wrx sedan- space grey, I am currently
braking it in (800mi ) any tips or advice for me?? I always let the car
warm up before driving until the revs drop to 7-800rpm, been shifting at
2500/3000 rpm, no hard braking/acceleration/cornering and only 93 premium
high octane
quick question I just finished up my swap to a sti my 05 to my wrx 2003, I
keep getting p0340 bank 1 cam error, I was wondering what could be causing
that do you have any ideas? any advise is great at this point. I chk the
lines ecu is fine harness is chking with correct voltage, timing is fine.
awesome video!
that plug you talk about that should be there.. happen to know the part
number? i need one too.. and the bottom of my tranny/back motor is open
where i can see the flywheel.. never noticed before.. guessing its not
supposed to be that way? am i missing another cover..
Nice cosworth t-belt!!!
Indeed!
I usualy put all my bolts in a big tray…. Doing 7-8 engines a week, you
kind of remember where all the stuff goes! 😉
hey she wasnt wearing any safety boots. :p
I had about 50 baggies for all of my nuts and bolts and a sharpie to mark
them all. I think for a first time engine rebuild it works, but you’re used
to doing so many that i bet you’ve memorized everything. On another
thought, what happens to make a cam pulley shatter? Over tightening? A
previous crack? Too much resistance on the cam that the pulley couldn’t
handle it? Strange.
does filming or photographing your work ever help you put things back
together?
Love working in these engines now, hey Brian have u done a clutch
replacement vid?
oh wow you’re all motivated and productive in this vid.
Thanks for the feedback and the specifics! I’ll redo the vid and repost it.
Guess part 2 will have to wait. :/
Thanks. On a job like this it’s pretty important. I’ve had a whole week to
forget what went were and in what order as the heads have been at the
machine shop all week.
Love how you show your little tips and tricks to keep organized for putting
everything back together. You Rock!
a bit of tinkering there to remove the donkey,5 to 6 hrs i bet.
spanky the air does become more dense when it is cooled but the intercooler
exchanges the heat into the air so the air becomes warm making the air
expand and less dense
Please do, I lose interest on cars.
I would love to help out with this I just love STi’s
Yes. There are differences in the emissions equipment, intake, etc.
Thanks! I always feel more comfortable in front of a camera when I have
makeup on but I think most girls are like that. However, I don’t want to
end up unrecognizable without makeup!
Awesome video, thanks! What size tank is on your air compressor?
Thanks for the feedback and pointing it out. I just played the original and
it did the same thing. I’m going to redo the entire vid and we’ll repost it.
yay!
Brian, I used freezer bags that you can label and tie on labels that look
like a big yellow sales tags with a string. I put bolts, nuts and parts in
the bags then poke the string from the label through the bag and tie it to
the part. I then number the bag and/or the yellow card with a sequence
number and sometimes notes on what length bolt goes in which hole as well
as routing of wires and hoses. I also tie the labels to hoses with notes
and numbers. I posted photos at toddfun on my Jeep rebuild
You’re welcome Kyle!
how come video frozen from 20min to 24min or it is just my browser ?
I jab holes in cardboard boxes and then write on the box what the bolts are
for. I just can’t remember what went where but I haven’t been working on
cars as long as Brian has.
I’ll do my best to fix it and repost it!
Turbo engines actually rarely ever have a failing headgasket.
I envy the knowledge on subarus you have Brian. I have an STi and have done
most of my own work on it, suspension, pulleys, belts, brakes etc. But
never would I be able to do this kind of extensive work to my own car. If
only you lived in cali I would bring my car to you for work. Question for
you Brian, Whats the best way to pull out the spark plugs on a 07 STi? It
looks impossible to take out the plugs on driver side, no room. Need kids
hands to pull them out lol.
lol
<--- will fix and repost.
this is one of the best videos yu have ever done.cheers to you?…do you
happen too live near grants pass?
It’s from HF! lol
Very informative video. Plus you explain the importance of being organized.
Even though this is a complicated project you show us that it is not
overwhelming but is in fact doable. Thank you for filming part one of this
project. I can’t wait to see part two.
Its the Cyberlink PowerDirector 9 editing software I paid WAY TOO MUCH
FOR…. twice.
they have the same ratio just 1 more gear. the only difference was in 07
they changed to a 3.7 final drive jdm sti’s 5spd have a 4.44, us wrx 5spd
has 4.11, us sti had 3.9 then 3.7, all 5spd non turbo subarus have a 4.11
all autos have 4.44
join a subaru forum! you will find lots of advice and friendly people 🙂
WOMEN AND MACHINARY DON’T MIX! Don’t let her near even your analog watch!
WE <3 SPANKY!!! Are you playing SimCity 2000?
SHINKUUU HADOUKEN !!
<--- gonna fix it and repost.
A good way to kill (Drain) a battery is by putting it down on the floor
without an insulator between it, and the floor to prevent it from grounding
out.
Video freezes at about 20:00, but you make some very good points then so
I’m glad you included the audio. That advice to not let things bother you
is gold, though I’ve found that to be a real challenge. High achievers
don’t accept failure well, and it’s normal to dwell on it when you make a
mistake. You make a great point about the colored little dots. I’ve been
using colored tape, but I have only 8 different colors, ha ha.
