Recommended bulbs:
I’m not endorsed or sponsored by Sylvania, but I personally really like their Silverstar series of bulbs. For reference any H7 style bulb will work for the low beams in this vehicle. See the links below for the different tier Silverstar products.

Was in a hurry doing it myself at Autozone. I didn't think to go through the wheelwell. Thanks mate.

sgtzsquad says:

Yep this definitely was an engineer's design on a Friday afternoon, for a long weekend. I take the wheels off just to give me more space. Thanks for the post.

Chencho says:

Thanks, it is a great video. But, between this, the oil consumption, premature wheel bearing wear, not even a temperature gauge like if it were a lawnmower, I will never buy a Subaru again, especially the newer models.
Update
Thank you brother, I went ahead and replaced both with supposedly brighter and longer lasting ones. Broke only one clip, so not too bad for the 1st time lol. Again, thanks, could not have done it without your video…

Thank you!! Thank you!! Thank you!! I just changed both bulbs by using your video and it took me about 30 minutes! I think I can cut that time down now that I know how to do it!!

Keith Lutz says:

Thanks a million! My Outback has 200,000 miles on it and runs great. HOWEVER, Subaru knows they have issues with bulbs burning out much earlier than normal! Next time-TOYOTA!

David Shepherd says:

Thanks for the video!

SOA originally had a recall on these bulbs several years ago for the generation 4's when they first came out (reliability)… The point is this: which bulb is going to give us the best MTBF (mean time between failure) rating? After all replacing them again will be another freaking hassle right? Sylvania, Phillips, or whoever, which one is the best quality from this perspective??? (Am willing to pay more for gods sake!)

Pat Fuller says:

Hate suburus, thanks bongbong!

Bill Westervelt says:

In and out in 30 minutes. You rock!

Isaac Haiduk says:

Awesome video. Thank you!

Thank you for this informative and on point video.!
Subaru went great lengths to make this a cumbersome DIY project. I did it myself and having the grommet pry tool is a must!!

Mike says:

The plastic cap is really tight and I cannot get it off to save my life. Any advice?
