Great Video. First off, those were vice grips you used, not channel locks.
They sell offset O2 socket with wire slit to fit this area. You can use a
open end 3/4 or 19mm to take sensor out. Wish you would have showed
complete job. I also place car completely on jack stand and use the jack as
a back up. The opposite you. If the car comes down, it could miss stand and
then your screwed.

Thanks for the tips, but same as above would have liked more pan in to show
where the clip is, and also you missed the point of putting anti seize on
(come with the sensor if new).

chimeranzl says:

do you know if this is the same location as the legacy?

Noted! Thanks for the feedback. The wire clips into the recesses on your
valve covers.

Simple, professional, swwweet! I have to do this to my Forester and had no
idea where the upstream one is located. Thank you showing a common sense
solution like a) taking the whee off and b) using vise grips instead of
having to buy a tool I’ll never use more than once. Good job Steve.

Hi Steve, Do you know if the sensor placement on my 2002 Forester is the
same as on your vehicle?

geogan2 says:

Would have liked if you showed where the o2 sensor plugged into engine bay
and how to get wire back up to there from underneath. Also where those
clips on new wire go to… getting P0134 error myself at the moment (no
activity o2 sensor circuit)
