HOW TO Replace the Clutch in a Subaru WRX STI! (2008-2021STI)

YO! Whatsup all my boxer baddies and boxer daddies out there!
We’ve got an absoloute banger for ya today!
If you recall from the former video series, we built Ethans 2019 subaru sti and added big turbo,e85, forged pistons, the whole ej25 starter kit if you will.
After these modifcations, we were making numbers around 450 whp and 420 ft lbs.
Not too shabby. The thing we didnt upgrade though, is the factory clutch and flywheel to help support this increased power output.
Keep in mind, the amount of power moving through these parts are actually greater than the numbers we saw on the dyno since power is lost down the drive train.
From what ive heard, its roughly in the 18% range, possibly slightly more in an awd platform, which would put our crank torque more like in the lower 500s.
Needless to say, the poor little stock clutch wasn’t capable of handling that much of a shock when really getting on it, so in this video, we junk the factory parts, and install a clutch and flywheel from ACT, Advanced Clutch Technologies.

we’re always trying new things and really like tackling these bigger projects, so please let us know in the comments if you like this format of how to videos with voiceover.

I prefer the engine out for clutch job. More easy for me. And I work alone. It can take me like roughly 3hrs total.
