How to Replace Subaru Crosstrek Brake Pads (2018/2019/2020 Front & Rear) • Cars Simplified

Replacing the front and rear brake pads on a 2018/2019/2020 Subaru Crosstrek are fairly easy, aside from the inner pad insertion for the inboard pads, because the caliper hardware catches on the pad and wear indicator when trying to insert the brake pad into the caliper bracket. Even with that, though, with careful installation of this vital safety item, I’m sure you can get this job done with no special tools!

No need to apply anti-seize on the bolts?

Hello, I replaced just my front brake pads but now it's making like a squeeking / scraping noise even if I'm not applying brake and it's louder on one side only ( passenger side to be exact ) 🙁 any idea?

This may be the most concise brake pad video I have ever seen. I have often thought of making one, but fear it ending up 20 minutes long, hahaha. Nice job!

Dave McGuigan says:

Great video as usual. My Crosstrek has about 6300 miles so I have a ways to go. Glad to see how easy it is to replace. Over the years on cars like Rabbits, GTI's and a Mazda B2000, I have used a large C-clamp to push in the brake calipers and I have even been able to physically push in the calipers by using my thumbs. And I am about your size. I guess I was lucky! I hate working on drum brakes, glad I don't have them any more.
