You might be able to get some of those plastic clips from the dealer.
The plastic clips as seen at 4:25 in the video broke on my headlight assembly and the whole light is loose, but stays in place with the hood closed. Is there any way to fix this or do I have to buy a whole new headlight housing?
Built After 5/01/97 Production Date had the headlight in the single housing. The process should still be similar to remove them. We do carry both styles on our website 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
This vid shows the turn signal and headlight as two separate housings.
My 96 Legacy Outback has both the signal and headlight in a single housing/assembly. All of the replacements that I see are single-housing as well.

Hi Nicolas, You vihicle may be different when trying to take the headlight out. If you just need to change the bulb, you may be able to just reach behind the light to change it, if there isn’t anything in the way.

If the bulb is burnt out, and the headlight isn’t yellow, cloudy or damaged then you could replace just the headlight bulb.Hope this helps you out.
will this be the same on a 2003 Subaru Outback Legacy? Also, how do you know if you can change just the bulb or if you have to change the whole light assembly? Appreciate your info!
