In this video, Tyler and I try our best to show you the easiest way to change a power steering pump on basically any Subaru with the 2.5 engine as far as I know. Hopefully this helps someone. I just stumbled through and figured it out. Maybe you won’t have to.

where did you buy the pump from??

Mike Horton says:

Just replaced the PS pump on my '08 Legacy Outback without removing radiator hose or coolant. Very easy – took less than an hour. Also was able to elevate the whole assembly above the level of the reservoir and then just swap the hoses to the new pump and put it all back together only losing maybe a half cup of PS fluid. Remember – the long lower bolt goes to the right and the short one to the left!

Nice video, kid! I'm about to change the PS pump on my '08 Outback and was thinking to try it without removing the radiator hose, so this gives me confidence that I might be able to. I will post my experience here for guidance to others!
