Ryan Patterson says:

I used remotes from a 2011 WRX and successfully programmed them to a 2010 forester. The instructions are also in your user manual if you want to confirm for your year and model.

TheDIYGuyDOTnet says:

The process in the video will not work for your car.. If you read the two reply’s to islandbwoy that should work for your car. I will try and do a video of that process soon as it also seems to be a popular one.

Hamza Muhammad says:

hey will this work on the subaru outbackk 2002 station wagon thanks

keeppizzalevel says:

Thanks for a great how to vid though!

keeppizzalevel says:

I tried to use one of my extra FOBs from my ’12 WRX to use on our ‘ 05 Outback with no success. Process seems to work as described but the end result is it won’t work with the Outback. It does still work with the WRX, as you might expect. I may gave to go the way of eBay.

TheDIYGuyDOTnet says:

Your welcome and thanks for letting me and other people know it works on a 2009 as well.

Zalek Bloom says:

Thanks!!! It worked on my Subaru 2009 Outback.

TheDIYGuyDOTnet says:

3. PUSH the upper left button on the first remote you are programming(does not matter which). The door locks/horn will cycle again to confirm successful programming of the remote. 4. If you have any additional remotes to program repeat step 3. If you have no additional remotes to program proceed to step 5. 5. RELASE the programming button and turn the ignition to the OFF position. Programming is now complete.

TheDIYGuyDOTnet says:

LOCATE THE KEYLESS ENTRY MODULE-USUALLY UNDER THE LEFT (DRIVER) SIDE DASH 1. OPEN the DRIVER’S side door and turn the ignition to the ON position 2. PUSH and HOLD the programming button until the doorlocks/horn cycle 3 times. KEEP HOLDING the programming button until step 5.

islandbwoy says:

Hey DIY, will the fob work on a 99 legacy if I follow these instructions?

TheDIYGuyDOTnet says:

Yes this programing procedure should work for your car.

Shahfaraz Siddiqui says:

Would this work on 2006 Subaru impreza?

TheDIYGuyDOTnet says:

I edited the video at that point so it’s not the correct code. Even if it was the correct code and you were to program it into your car that would just make it so this remote would unlock your car.

tanamus13 says:

Good howto.. Only thing, you covered up the numbers on yours (presumably for security sake) but then you can clearly figure out the code by counting how many times you are clicking the lock button……?

TheDIYGuyDOTnet says:

Yes this should work on a 08 Forester.

ToastTheCoast says:

would this work with a 2008 subaru forester?

TheDIYGuyDOTnet says:

I know it should work on 2008, 2007, 2006 Tribeca, Impreza, Legacy/Outback,
2005 Legacy, Outback. Not sure about the 2009. 2008-2009 they started using the Immobilizer keys. Not sure if that’s causing the problem.

delfindle says:

I should clarify – 2009 Outback

delfindle says:

Any reason this wouldn’t work on a 2009? 2005-2009 are all generation 3, did something change between 2008 and 2009? – Thanks!

izKahlo says:

I tried this with my 2009 Forester… worked for the first fob but I can’t for the life of me get it to work with the second one. The doors lock and unlock after I put in the code for the second time, but it never works after I complete the last steps.

Jonathan Yeung says:

Everything registers (doors lock then unlock after second code entry), but the key fob doesnt respond to the car 🙁

So i guess it doesnt work on 2013 wrx’s?

Juan Cano says:

I tried doing this for my car a subaru impreza. The alarm is activated. I just bought this car and it did not bring a remote, so I ordered one online.

TheDIYGuyDOTnet says:

Not sure how many working fobs you have.. but eventually Yes it will remove your working fob from the system. You are able to program 4 fobs to a car. So if you have 2 working fobs you can try 2 times to program the new fob without pushing out the working key fob numbers. You could always reprogram your working fobs numbers in. I have two working fobs so I programed each fobs numbers in two times to fill the four slots to ensure someone else can’t unlock my car with there fob.

Jonathan Yeung says:

Alright, if I screw up it won’t un-program my other fobs right?? And one more thing if it does work do my two other fobs stop working??

TheDIYGuyDOTnet says:

Hello, I am not sure as I haven’t done a lot of mixing n matching with different key fobs with different cars. If you try it and it does work let me know.

Jonathan Yeung says:

Would this work on a 2011+ legacy key fob on a 2013 wrx?

TheDIYGuyDOTnet says:

There should be an 8 digit code.. Someone must have removed the 8 digit sticker. Not sure if the dealer can program without the code..

Fabio Creuzo says:

i cant find my 8 digit, i bought a used fob that dont have the panic buton, only 3 buttons, i opened it and have a 4 digit code with a Y letter, how do i do in this case?

TheDIYGuyDOTnet says:

Your welcome. Much Easier to do when you can see it rather then just read it.

Michael Mendez says:

Thanks man—worked 1st time. 2010 Subaru Forester

pSon001610 says:

2:10 what was the click that you hear?

TheDIYGuyDOTnet says:
