After 2 years of driving with the OEM short throw shifter I decided to install Kartboys short shifter. Big Thanks to Tom over at Kartboy!

Is the kartboy better than the boomba?
Great video – thanks a lot. Love the shorter shift! I have noticed that the shifting feel very rough/clunky when driving immediately after. Everything is functioning properly, and I’m confident that I installed correctly. I’m curious if this is normal, and if it smooths out over time? I noticed you didn’t grease or lube anything in the video. I didn’t either. Should I have? Could this be why it feels rough? Thanks again
This is a silly question but does this shorten the height of the shifter ? Or shorten the length of throw? OR both haha
Would this work with the sti short shift for the WRX?
Still have the car? If so how has the Kartboy short throw shifter held up? I have a 2015 WRX with STi short throw shifter from factory. Have little over 70K miles on the car. Got it November 2014 and live in NY.
is the kartboy short shift compatible with the perrin brass shifter bushing? i know the kartboy comes with a bearing to go in the linkage but id rather have the perrin bushing in instead of the kartboy bearing but is it necessary to use the bearing supplied by kartboy to make sure the short shift works?
Great video. I followed it to a tee and got mine installed in under 90 minutes. The palm nailer is worth its weight in gold if you are using jack stands. I got a 3 gallon-100 psi compressor and a palm nailer for 85 bucks at Harbor Freight and I would have paid triple that. LOL.
One more question. Would this fit on the 15 sti ? Or ONLY for wrx ?
btw great VID!
cold you tell me the small machine you ham to get the pin out called?
I'm wondering how this compares to the perrin short shifter adapter? With the kart boy one is it harder to shift into gear without having the OEM like counter weights on it?
great video man, super helpful!
*On the right
I installed my shift stop a couple months ago and yesterday i installed the short shifter. When I was driving earlier today my car wasn't going into sixth gear sometimes. Do you think I need to readjust the shift stop on the left?
Thanks for your reply.
i've heard when doing this that it makes it infinitely easier to punch out that pin if you have the car in 2nd, 4th, or 6th, which will make the pin vertical
sounds very noobish but would this void warranty?
Did you install the two o-rings on each side of the bearing?
Hey I got the pin out using a 3/16 punch but I have 2 questions: 1. That pin is too small to fit directly in the kartboy plate. 2. The shifter plate isn't budging.
It looks like the pin is 2 pieces and i got the center piece out? Any idea?
I did it in my wrx. Now my second gear feels like shit. ( already switched it back to stock)It puts to much stress on a synchros. I would not recommend . But it did felt a lot better than stock, and now 2nd grinds. Hopefully your car would not experience problem that I had.
Did it make it more clunky getting into gear? Like stiffer and harder to push into gear? Or is it smoother into each gear
Anarchy FTW 🙂
Could you explain/show the center jacking point for the front and rear?
I bought this awhile back and haven't done it cause…one I don't have a punch and I'd be doing it on jack stands. Waiting to see if the dealer will install it for me on my next maintenance.
Finalllllyyy!! Seems like the pin is the hardest part. Great video!
