matt homes says:

“Off road us only” is listed on the product because many states have different laws about vehicle modification and emissions. It is more straight forward to make this statement then to try to list out states that the product may may not pass a vehicle inspection.

-Matt Homes

InsertGun says:

Why is this only for off roas use?

Mollifier16616111 says:

shit gets CRAZY

Micheal Cantu says:

Omg I’m such an idiot Haha I’m at work at the moment but tonight I will do that. I’ll let you know how it turns out. I did tighten it down but it wasn’t in gear so it wasn’t tightened to torque specs and I did install the belts afterwards. I should’ve worded it better. Thanks!

GrimmSpeed says:

Mike, are you sure you are torquing the crank pulley down to 96 ft lbs? You install the belts after the pulley has been torqued down. You will either need to put the car in gear or use a crank pulley tool to achieve this torque specification.

Micheal Cantu says:

Forgot to mention it is a 2000 subaru legacy.

Micheal Cantu says:

Tightened but when i tried to start it they came off again with crank pully loose again.

Micheal Cantu says:

Hello, i need to know if i should order this tool. My belts came off due to the fact that the crank pully was loose and I tried tightening the pully with belts

Brian Hunt says:

Thanks for the reply. I’m all set. All is still where it should be. Great tutorial! Thanks again. I’m back up and running.

justin grimm says:

Hey Brian,

You probably just turned the engine which shouldn’t be a problem. If you’re overly concerned you may want to take off your timing cover and confirm that the marks are still lined up.

Mike

Brian Hunt says:

I just put my car in 5th, ebrake set and gave the breaker bar a little pull to make sure the pulley wouldn’t go counter clockwise. It did a little bit and I turned it slightly back clockwise. What could happen here? What should I do at this point? Any ideas why the pulley turned back? Any help is much appreciated.

unhappySKATING says:

What would you need to do for a 2005 impreza With automatic transmission?

justin grimm says:

Hello,

My guess is this is internet hearsay and not fact. We have seen no issues associated with the installation of this pulley. Stop and go traffic should be improved as the motor will respond and rev more freely.

Mike

UAMate says:

I’ve been thinking of buying this crank pulley and then swapping it instead of my old one. And here is what concerns me a little. I was told and also read on the Internet that replacing old1 to a lighter may create problems especially if you often drive in a city, traffics jams, often stops due to traffics lights and so on. In other words a new crank pulley is good foe driving on long distances off any cities. Is it correct? Thank you.

Chris Brensinger says:

Awesome! thanks Matt

GrimmSpeed says:

Chris,

Our pulley is compatible with all EJ series engines, it will work great on your 2.2l. Let me know if there are any other questions I can answer for you. -Matt Homes

Chris Brensinger says:

@GrimmSpeed: im considering picking up one of these for my 2000 impreza outback 2.2l 5spd manual. i just want to confirm that this pully is compatible with that engine because it is a 2.2 and not a 2.5

GrimmSpeed says:

Dan,

The exact article is evading me right now but Subaru of America made a statement about a year ago saying that the OEM crank pulley is NOT a harmonic balance. Quite a few people make this assumption because there is rubber used in its manufacturing process. Our pulley isn’t as light as some of the other ones out there. We intentionally made it slightly heavier as to not run into mis-fire issues if someone is running a lightened flywheel. -Matt Homes

GrimmSpeed says:

Dan,

This is definitely a option, some people don’t feel comfortable doing this though. Also, on auto vehicle the crank pulley removal can’t be accomplished this way, you need a tool whether it be ours or someone else’s. -Matt Homes

Daniel Peralta says:

Question for Grimm speed vender. What is the difference between your crank pulley compare to Cobb and Perrin. I have a Perrin crank pulley but I just put the stock crack pulley. I’m being told that the stock crack pulley has a harmonic balancer. Am your crank, Cobb and Perrin don’t have it. Which could cause vibration and messing up your oil pump and bearing.

Daniel Peralta says:

Faster way to loosed the cranks pulley is to put your car on 5 gears, ebrake up. Get a 22mm socket and a breaker bar.

Funk3Fresh says:

you could just put your car in gear and chock the wheels to break loose the pulley bolt. dont need to spend money on that tool.

GrimmSpeed says:

If you are referencing the pulley in relation to the crank it will only fit on one way. There is a key way that aligns the pulley. If this isn’t what you are asking let me know. -Matt Homes

spuhl buhl says:

What if it does go counter clock wise just a tiny bit wil any thing happen

justin grimm says:

Possibly but the only way we recommend doing it is per our install instructions.

berg12508 says:

Is there any way to remove/install the crank pulley without those specific tools for an 08+wrx?

hamba allah says:

theres a lot of pulley..usually people change light weight crank pulley..its make better performence n responce..increase about 5%-10% power for ur engine..crank pulley is at belting air con..i change my crank pulley yesterday n i can feel the different.. @PUNKaZZBEACH

matt fox says:

Fuck the state. They think they can micro manage every damn part of our lives

PUNKAZZBEACH says:

Can someone please tell me what is a pulley! How does it work.

matt homes says:

We have not confirmed fitment on a 2011 yet, if you shoot me some pictures on your pulley I can most likely verify. Shoot us a email at sales @ grimm speed .com. -Matt Homes

Pam Phlet says:

will this fit a 2011 legacy 2.5i MT?

Seabass20329 says:

Just finished installation on my 04′ STi. Took me two hours, including the time spent to go get a second breaker bar. Should also be noted that I wouldn’t consider myself “experienced” lol. This is a great and very easy to install mod, especially with the video.

GrimmSpeed says:

It is the same size as the OEM so you can use the same belt. – Justin

Soldier4thaLORD says:

Is the lightweight pulley the same size in diameter, or will I need a smaller belt?

justin grimm says:

Our GrimmSpeed light weight crank pulley works on all EJ series engines, so it should work on your Forester just fine as long as you have an EJ motor. -Matt Homes

justin grimm says:

Chad,

Are you running the stock fans or aftermarket ones? You should be able to do the install with your fans on the radiator, but you can remove them if they are hard to work around. Let me know if this helps, if not give me a call (612-379-0000) and I can walk you through it. -Matt Homes

ChaddMellow says:

my fan is in the way, can someone please help??

ChaddMellow says:

I just got mine in the mail today 🙂 I’m very impressed with the work, packaging and speedy delivery. Thanks a bunch guys!!

gnuojoung says:

LOL i know whos car this is, hahaha

munoz4415 says:

You mentioned that the wight is optimized so no check engine light is triggered. But what if i have a lightweight flywheel on my car?

Jayeeyee says:

It’s good to note that 94 ft lbs is for WRX applications. STI requires 133 ft lbs.

TheScoobNoob says:

Alright just making sure.

GrimmSpeed says:

The crank pulley most likely won’t be scrutinized like changes to emission, exhaust systems are. I cannot promise you this, if you are still concerned, check your local statutes.

TheScoobNoob says:

Ok thanks. Do you think it will pass mass inspection or do they not care?

GrimmSpeed says:

Some states don’t allow the modification of a vehicleand or limit to only certain modifications. We use this statement so that the consumer knows its intended use. This will work just fine on a daily driver, just verify with the state you reside in that they modifications are not prohibited.

-Matt H.

TheScoobNoob says:

Why off road use only? Could I have it on my daily driver?

GrimmSpeed says:

Which tensioner kit are you referring too? – Justin Grimm
