DIY – Subaru Legacy Outback Key Fob Battery Replacement EASY

Replacement 1620 Battery – CR1620 – https://amzn.to/2VaqgsT

I’m going to show you how to replace the CR1620 battery in your Subaru Legacy / Outback / Forester key fob. Once you open up the battery case, the inner mechanism is a little hard to break into. You will want to double check what battery your case say. Once you get that open, you can replace your battery and your fob will be back to working as intended.

This specific remote came off a 2012 / 2013 Subaru Outback.

you have a normal key cut on your key, you should see my 2014 outbacks key 'same key but way different cut! I would assume the same CR1620 battery? I need a new one and can't find my damn mini screw drivers to check LOL!

Lea Randall says:

Thank you! i had replaced my battery and it didn't work. I thought I needed a new fob or a new receiver (both fiendishly expensive). It turns out I just had the batter upside down 😀 haha!

Greg Florko says:

It worked. Thanks.

Damn, that key looks specially designed to break – so many potential "oops"es.

Justin Laflure says:

So after changing the battery in it does it require a re-program?

Chris Pinette says:

Thanks, I have a 2008 Subaru Outback and the key fob stopped working. I'll try this to change the battery.
