naya ramirez says:

Rich Simpson says:

Thanks bro. Completely fixed the rattle for me…for now.

Clay Colehouse says:

Hopefully this will fix my rattling

Christian parrish says:

Very helpful. I will see if this helps me get rid of the annoying rattle I
hear when my car is in idle or low rpms.

joeyjojo5 says:

Great video, thanks.

Bend Dover says:

if i get a new exhaust system, since mines getting old and rusty and i want
more power and better performance, will it get rid of the rattling sounds
coming from the heat shields? Do heat shields come already on exhaust
systems or are they on the cars themselves?

naya ramirez says:

Can u use muffler clamps instead of the gear clamps? Or is there a
difference.

Hello, I have a 2013 Subaru wrx and I hear this rattling noise coming From
under the engine. About a month ago I installed a new downpipe and exhaust
system. I recently changed my oil and I checked if there were any loose
bolts and everything was tight on those modifications but I forgot to check
the heatshields of the stock uppipe, I think the noise is coming from
there. I hear the noise at about 2500rpms while I’m off the throttle. Do
you think it’s the stock heatshield uppipes? I will go under the car this
weekend.

jamaal jones says:

Ok. What do i have to do next?

jamaal jones says:

I have the rattle noise and when i turn my wheels, sometimes my car shuts
off

Leander Regnier says:

That was a good idea I had the same problem and I did it and it worked

Sexyval777 says:

Thank you for putting up this video it really helped out alot when I drive
my 2000 honda civic it was quit but would make that rattle sound n I hated
it bad lmao thanks again

4Diyers says:

I’ve had 3 different Subarus in the past and every single one has the exact
same problem. They were a 1999 Forester, 2000 Outback, and a 2001 Impreza.
I found that the shields themselves were still in excellent condition but
the rivets rusted out or band clamps they come with from factory fell off.
The rattles would drive me insane, so every single one I had to fix. Worst
part is you can have a vehicle which runs perfectly quiet, yet the rattle
takes all that away.

PavilloN says:

thank you but when its givn noise RPM goin down 🙁 is it posible chain
problem ?

38tonystarks says:

I’ve been hearing this rattling noise when I drive over 60 mph, I wonder if
it’s because of the heat shield rattling because I haven’t looked under the
car to see if so or not. It’s a 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer ES. I look forward
to getting your honest opinion, and hope that I can do it myself. Thank you
in advance.

PavilloN says:

is it givvin this noise(at link)? bcoz i have this problem and someone say

4Diyers says:

If the noise is always there and does change it’s tone or speeds up, then
possible it could be the timing chain. Unfortunately it’s hard to tell from
the video. If you listen to the car while it’s running, the timing chain is
located at the front of the motor so it should be the loudest there if it
was a timing chain issue. Again you’re best to just climb under the car
while it’s cold, using the handle of a hammer tap around gently and if
something is loose in the exhaust, it should show up.

TheKokodogy says:

just so you don’t have to connect two clamps by inch thick clamps from home
depo for hoses.. They come in a much longer side

Alexn1067 says:

thank you so much…I have a 2003 ford focus that makes a metallic rattling
noise at start up…once the engine heated up it usually goes away or at
acceleration. At first I thought it was the engine but the noise came from
mid under body and I couldn’t put my finger on what it was…thank you so
much. I’m relieved because this doesn’t seem like a problem, more of an
annoyance and very cheap fix.

xXShonomercyXx says:

I have a sound in the tip of my exhaust its a metallic ringing/rattle
sound. I mainly hear it as my car settles down after idle. What could it
be? I checked the hangers, they are tight and held with rubber grommets
now. I also bought stainless steel U-clamps and I used a thread locker on
those. I also checked the clamps by the mufflers, they were not loose.
Could there be something rattling internally with the tips or muffler?

Andy Posidon says:

I just had the same issue on my 08 impreza. I heard all subies, esp. 08-11
get this with age. Mine is only 5 years old. It rattles alot when cold, and
when it heats up it lessens, but still rattles around 20 and 30mph or low
rpm. The fix is yes hose clamps. The dealer was useless and they were going
to charge me $300 for a new shield?, I used three 3″ hose clamps in the
front where the rattle was coming from and done no noise!

WealthNHealth says:

Very helpful, thanks for posting.

4Diyers says:

That is true the exhaust does expand and contract with the heat which can
make rattles more noticeable or make it go away depending on the amount of
heat in an area. The clamps won’t cause any damage, they should expand and
contract along with the rest of the exhaust system. And the clamps on their
own are very strong and durable.

Skylar D. says:

I had a new muffler installed on my 1995 Oldsmobile cutlass ceira about 3
years ago and ever since then, I’ve noticed a rattle/scraping pavement
sound under the driver side floorboard. It only happens when I idle for the
first time in the morning and when I ease on the gas pedal from a complete
stop. What would this problem be??

4Diyers says:

It could be something inside the resonator which is doing it. One of the
baffles may have came loose inside. You’re best either to climb underneath
the truck while it’s running and listen where exactly it’s coming from and
then feel around with something to see it stops. Or you tap the exhaust
with a rubber or wooden handle from something to find the rattle which the
truck isn’t running. Unfortunately if it is a baffle, there’s really no way
of fixing it without replacing the resonator.
