Come to the pnw and ive had plenty of old cars including 2 Subaru wagons one from 1992 and none of them had rust. Its the salt Even my 1988 ford thunderbird turbo coupe with 200k on it didnt have rust
Salt is a problem like others have commented, BUT Subarus tend to rust out faster and worse compared to other makes that are subjected to the same conditions.
Ash is great at melting ice and it doesn’t rust anything or pose any problems because it’s biodegradable
Meh, find 20-30 year old Subarus all day long. See rusted Camrys. VAST majority time it’s maintenance and quality of owner.

Just broke a wheel lock key… been thinking about those locking lug nuts for days now…
As much as I can't stand Subarus it's the salt that they're putting on the roads it's really bad they really need to come up with something different.
