2013-2017 Subaru Crosstrek How to replace Front C-Lights and Sidemarker Lights

This video shows how to replace the C-Lights (Boomerang Lights) and the Sidemarker Lights on a 2013-2017 Subaru Crosstrek. Below is all the info for the bulbs being replaced. This is also a lighting upgrade to LED bulbs. This is something anyone can do to a vehicle. I am not sponsored by any company products used in this video.
Mission Automotive Dielectric Grease/Silicone Paste/Waterproof Marine Grease (8 Oz.) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016E5E59G/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_Quh-CbYBQ5VSW

Standard bulbs used: C-Lights and the Sidemarker lights are both # 168.
I am doing an upgrade to LED lights. I got them here:
https://www.diodedynamics.com/ They are all plug and play. You won’t need anything else besides the bulbs. A 3 year warranty is part of your purchase. The bulbs and the luminocity are as follows:
The C-Lights (Boomerang Lights I used are the HP5 at 92 lumens.
These lights also come in a HP3 56 lumens.
Colors for the 56 and 92 Lumen lights are as follows:
Cool White (6000K)
Pure White (5000K)
Natural White (4000K)
Warm White (3000K)

If you want to jump to the right side of the vehicle (Passenger side) it starts @ 8:07

The Sidemarker lights, I also upgraded to LEDs.
I used the HP5 (92 lumens) in the color Amber.
They also come in SMD2 (24 lumens) and HP3 (56 lumens)
Available colors are as follows:
Cool White (6000K)
Warm White (3000K)
Red
Amber
You will also see how to remove the battery and airbox in this video.

Got it! Thanks.

Dude! where's your gloves. You just decreased the life of the new bulbs handling those with your bare greasy hands. Get some Nitrile gloves.

Thanks for the layout at 1:14!

Thought you would have protected the bulb from the oil on your fingers..
Plus..as of this moment..you didn't give the size bulbs..

Great video, IamWedge. only thing I wish to attempt this using long rubber coated forcepts and sneak in through that little gap up top – this way I don't have to disco the battery or airbox. I may have missed it but, you didnt appear mention which way you twist the DRL "boomerang" lamps to loosen them. Is it CCW like the side markers? Thanks again! – Sandy

These Subaru videos are fantastic and super helpful! Thanks for taking the time to make these!

As a base wrx owner, I have plans to turn the front c-light amber/orange (because it is different). Sure, cool white is nice and actually adding a C-light led is neat, but too much work imo. Thanks for the video.

Any light/bulb error on dashboard (bulb-out indication)? Because many cars need CANBus LED bulbs to do not show those errors. What about Subaru Crosstrek? Thank you very much!

Jennifer Rumble says:

Thank you so much for posting this. It worked great for my Impreza too!

Thanks for the video! Which lumens 56 or 92 looks crisper and nicer? Is 92 the normal as stock?

Brad Ziegler says:

I just did a full LED upgrade on my Crosstrek. All of your videos were INCREDIBLY helpful! Thank you so much!

Brian Novak says:

Thanks good video! No problem with the marker lights but those boomerangs are a real pain to twist back in!

Great tutorial – I don't have a Subaru Crosstrek but if I did, I'd feel confident enough to do this! Big thumbs up. 🙂
