Thank you for the videos……………..I now feel much better about
installing recon heads and new gaskets on my liberty wagon 1993 ej22 in the
middle of the Australian desert. Had a radiator problem and cooked the old
heads and gaskets …smoke everywhere . Hope I got it in time
………….. Much appreciated Cheers Glenn
I hope it doesn’t, but I doubt it would. My old EJ22 Subaru went to 292,000
before I sold it and it ran perfectly. My wife’s old EJ18 Impreza – same
story, but 330,000 miles. Worst case scenario, I do the gaskets. But, I
doubt it’ll be a problem.
I was watching briansmobile1, not sure if u subscribe to him but he
suggested that the factory headgaskets on these subarus typically fail
after about 150k miles. I don’t think we drove any of our subarus up to
that point, but I guess it varies. hopefully this doesn’t happen on your
wife’s car
I wouldn’t worry too much, if you’re already going to replace the heads and
gaskets. I would run a straight edge along the block surface to check for
warping before installing any new parts, to be safe. Best of luck, Glenn.
Thanks for watching, MDG
