'06 to '11 Subaru Forester, Impreza & Outback SOHC 2.5 Timing Belt & Water Pump Kit – Part II

In a previous video we removed the timing belt and water pump on the 2011 Subaru Outback. Had a bit of a spell getting the fan off but that issue is solved and now it’s time to get it all back together.
-Enjoy!

The half a tooth off comment was made to me in a previous shop worked for. I don't work at that shop anymore because I said it was bs being half a tooth off. It's either one or none.

MRrwmac says:

Eric, I’m sorry but all his jars weren’t Gerber baby food jars, some were Mason Ball jars! And the baby food ones were screwed up onto the lids that were mounted up under a shelf….haha! PLUS, there was the all to familiar 50 yr old oily greasy smell mixed with old dust. All made onto a gouged, scratched and oil/gasoline/kerosene soaked workbench! Ahhhhh I can smell it now! Plus, I have one like it…I’m 72..haha.

I had used a Gates kit on a customers Honda ridgeline and that thing came back like 3 weeks later knocking like a mother lover, tensioner had completely crapped the bed, luckily I didn’t jump teeth or anything and it was just the tensioner knocking like crazy, won’t touch one of those kits again lol. I always go Aisen when I can, haven’t had any issues with continental as of yet but I’ll certainly heed your advice lol

Michael Shocik says:

How true about Grandpa with the bottle of flat headheaded nuts and bolts!!! Laughed my ass off as soon as you said it!!!!

Jeff Barkley says:

Aisin is one of the biggest OEM parts supplier for Toyota, Honda Nissan and Subaru. I worked at the Toyota plant in Georgetown Kentucky unloading parts. Aisin and Denso are the biggest suppliers for the (import) manufacturers. We always pronounced Aisin as Ison, they also made a lot of hubs, rotors and drums for the Camry. Arvin Sango provided the exhaust, Pioneer made a lot of the stereos. Johnson Controls made the seats and some of the batteries. Seat belts came from Canada via a company called QSS which stood for Quality Safety Systems. I used to know pretty much what every supplier made but I left that job in 1998 to pursue a plumbing career and now I've forgotten a lot of the things that I knew by heart then

Neil Lawrence says:

Yup, got all kinds of square nuts and carriage bolts stashed away in the barn. You never know when one might come in handy. One of my most exciting finds at a flea market was a box about 8 inches x 8 inches x 6 inches full of an assortment of springs that I had to have for $5.00. May actually use one someday.

Lee Elliott says:

Eric, I've got an easy one for you. Show how to change a car battery without disturbing your radio settings or any other electronics in the car. I recently bought a new battery for my Nissan at the dealer and even after specifically asking that they take steps not to lose the settings, when I picked up the car all the electronics had gone back to the default setting. Obviously whoever changed the battery did not know what they were doing.

John Hanson says:

Patrick94GSR says:

I was literally laughing out loud when you said “trust me somebody’s laughing at this”, IYKYK. I probably have some of those fasteners right now on my bench in my granddaddy’s old hardware drawer set.

BeachBum says:

My grandfather had them in the Gerber jars he fed me with, only he'd screwed the lids into the bottom of the bench so the jars themselves were suspended.

J A Y says:

32:54 my pops had those exact babyfood jars in his workshop LMAO … when you know you know

J A Y says:

WHY 21:35 are you using those Worm Clamps when the constant tension clamps are what belongs on there to allow for proper expansion contraction of the coolant hose?

John Z says:

Cool video.

At my grandparents place in Amsterdam NY those jars were not far from the canvas bag of wooden tip-ups.

Charles Mitchell says:

another great video from Eric O !!

Tony Lava says:

Can a background cause your vehicle to randomly accelerate while driving

Omari Stephens says:

@7:22 Especially for an Asian component, I'm guessing it's a decimal ft-lbs because it's converted from N-m. Looks like 12 N-m is the round number

pauly kay says:

I think timing belts are junk….chains are the best

Steve Mazzarella says:

I must be old my dad had baby food jars lol

Ryan Bond says:

Oh yeah use those NSK bearings! As the official bearing aficionado of this channel, it brings me great joy when you use NSK bearings!

fryguy42005 says:
