Hey, thanks for posting that video, you have now convinced me I’d rather
just have my mechanic deal with this! lol :-)

Psych0cr4zed says:

dan400man, Thank you for that comment!!! My motor was bad, so I had to
replace it, but after replacement, the wipers wouldn’t spin. I saw your
comment and now they work!!! Thank you so much!!!

richpin06a says:

Sorry about that i will try to make it look easier in the future.

MrNokars says:

I did thus twice today.once at the junk yard and then again to my car,
except I took my hood off just to make it easier and my motor came out very
easy this guy made it look hard

richpin06a says:

Have you tried removing the arms parking the motor then reinstalling the
arms.

hmallett1 says:

Hello Richpin. Thank you for your helpful videos! I replaced the wiper
motor, but now the wipers park in the wrong position. Do you know what I
need to do to correct this; or is the rebuilt motor bad?

Chummy690650 says:

Thanks for your videos on the wiper motor troubleshooting and removal. They
were a big help.

dan400man says:

FYI to weekend DIY’ers like me: When attaching the crank to the new motor’s
stud, the crank must be in the 9:00 position. (First, make sure the new
motor is cycled to the “stopped” position.) Essentially, the arms attached
to the crank must be parallel to each other. Because it is nearly
impossible to keep the arms parallel while tightening the nut, this step
might be best done in a shop vice, but I was fortunate enough to find a
metal spacer that fit perfectly between the crank & the firewall.

Alan Hart says:

Hey Richpin. Your videos are awesome. I am not a technician. Far from it.
But I have done some minor repairs watching your S-Series videos. Now on to
my problem. My wipers won’t turn off once I turn them on. The only way they
stop is when I park and turn off my engine. I have watched both wiper
troubleshooting and motor removal videos. Any experience with this. Alan,
1998 SW1.

Dave Landis says:

If my wiper fluid works, but the wipers don’t move at all, does that mean
the motor is busted? I checked the wiper fuse and it’s okay. I just want to
know for sure that the motor needs to be replaced. I had a tire blowout
that was pretty explosive and found a couple of loose wires around the
wiring to/from the wiper fluid container. not sure if they were just
grounded to the chassis or where they came from.

old64goat says:

Very informative video. I have a 1991 Dodge Dakota that has very sloppy
(loose) wipers, they have about 4″ of play in them when the wipers are in
the “park” position. The drivers side shoots way past the windshield and
goes over the rubber trim. Could you do a video on how to fix that? Great
channel Rich. Bill

richpin06a says:

Have you seen my video “Windshield Wiper Arm Repair” it might be the
problem.

TOMOFONO says:

would the linkage in a different position help with removal? Seems too
tight for a factory worker to install.

jordom5 says:

@richpin06a yup, i have headers on my saturn so it made the engine light
come on so i need to get a 02 simulator put on because when i reset the
engine light it makes my car idle really low

richpin06a says:

No relay just the switch and the motor. The switch tells the motor what
speed to run at.The engine smoking could be from valve stem seals which
like to smoke when you fire it up in the morning.

richpin06a says:

I would check the wires at the motor to see if you are getting ground and
voltage.

gitterplayr says:

Rich, million thx for the vid!!! My local mechanic refused to attempt the
linkage replacement 🙂 With your expert help I got it done in 2 days.
Note: Canadian Tire stocks the replacement #21-0770-6 for $108 list.

Alan Hart says:

Thanks. I’ll take a look. BTW, I installed a Driver Side window regulator
on my S-series Saturn SW1…using your well explained video. And I am not a
Mechanic or Technician!

richpin06a says:

I believe the motor is at fault.Have you seen my video “Emergency
Windshield Wiper Switch”.

jordom5 says:

do a video of how to bypass a o2 sensor on the catilac converter

richpin06a says:

@TOMOFONO That’s what i was thinking but in the junkyard i could not move
the linkage.

old64goat says:

@richpin06a Thanks Rich, if you are refering to the whiper arm where the
blade is attatched that yes It seems to be moving, there is alot of play
somewhere on the linkage below but I can’t tell where the play is.

richpin06a says:

It sounds like there could be a problem with the microprocessor in the
wiper motor.

richpin06a says:

@old64goat The first thing to check is if the arm is moving on the spline
shaft that the arm goes on.If it is doing that i do have a video to fix
that problem.

richpin06a says:

WOW you saved some nice cash there.

MartyrInFlames says:

You just saved me a painful afternoon. It’s Friday the 13th. I got lucky
and found this video!

limeyjoe1931957 says:

How do you fix the problem? I read further that the linkage should be
around the 9 o clock position on the motor. Do you have any photos or video
that can help me fix the problem? Thank you

richpin06a says:

Can you hear the wiper motor when you turn it on if not first thing would
be to check the fuse.If that checks out ok i have a video on
troubleshooting the motor and switch.

richpin06a says:

It is supposed to be easier if you put the wiper arms in the 12 o’clock
position before you start. In your case you will have to move the arms till
in goes in.

richpin06a says:

It does make a difference were you mount the linkage to the motor.Because
of this i always mark how the arm goes on the motor.

richpin06a says:

@MrTerrydecker Glad i could have helped you out.

Kyle P says:

love how easy that dash pad is to remove. know of good junk yards around
our area?. if you know of any PM them to me if you could.need a few
things… if not thanks anyways rich
