I do have a video showing me removing the pulley bolts without using a impact wrench.

Steve Eide says:

Richpin, do you think this would be a good way of removing the pump pulley bolts if you don’t have an impact wrench? Thanks for your thoughts!

Gabriel Velazquez says:

Notice how rich commands the pulley to turn with his mind. No ASE can teach you that!

richpin06a says:

I have not worked on any s-series with the sunroof but the guys over at Saturnfans will be glad to help you on that one.

adkinsb91 says:

Hey richpin06a…my 02 Saturn SC1 has a sunroof but only opens like 1/4 inch and then makes a clicking noise. When it closes fully it makes the same clicking noise. Any ideas or pointers?

chack rodriguez says:

Thanks as usual very helpful.!!!!:)

richpin06a says:

If you are running with the thermostat out the car it will run rich.Be careful to much raw fuel going into the cat can melt it.

Kunlikker1 says:

Rich from long island here.I took the thermostat out.I am getting back pressure with no muffler and a new cat

Buick Mackane says:

Still waiting to see your excellent car repair videos.

richpin06a says:

I did not lower the engine.

richpin06a says:

I do not think there is anything wrong with using it.

Buick Mackane says:

Do you have the engine lowered down to access the water pump pulley bolts? I just finished my 96 SL2 water pump and serpentine belt today and had to use a 10mm box wrench (no torque wrench). I used the flat side of another box wrench inside the pulley bolts against the big crank pulley to keep the pulley from turning while tightened it. Thanks to your excellent videos I got the courage up to do it myself and saved hundreds of dollars, I am sure.

Buick Mackane says:

I put a thin film of anti-seize on my water pump bolts and pulley bolts. Do you think that was a good idea at all?

richpin06a says:

I do not have a video on this problem.I was going to say you had a possible coil issue but you said you replaced them. What we do when we suspect a bad coil is to switch coils 1-4 and 2-3.If the problem moves with the coil switch we know it is bad.The only thing i can think of is ignition module?

twig256 says:

do you have a video of this perhaps of what I wrote below that I could watch to guide me through this if so please direct me as I have looked at all seen one on replacing the coil on the one saturn but since I have replaced the coils ,leads and spark plugs unless there is a wire short or loose that I do not know about …
thanks
Theresa

twig256 says:

Hi Richpin I am in need of your help ,car is running on three cylinders it is a 92 saturn sl 4dr sedan ,,,I changed ,leads plugs ,still running on three cylinders …then I checked to see if I had spark ..started the car removed ..lead 4 had spark then 2and three had spark but #one has no spark ..this I cannot figure out as to why as I had replaced all leads, coils ,plugs yet the first lead had no spark and the engine is still running on 3 cylinders …help

richpin06a says:

Strap wrenches can be had from any auto parts store even harbor freight has them.

kapikakeko says:

nice technique – I like it . where do you get that kind of strap wrench?

Zachary Flores says:

No real rush, just i enjoy looking at repair info about my car

richpin06a says:

I will try to add more to the ones i already have.

Zachary Flores says:

Hey rich i would love if you had anything more on Gm 3100 6v engines

richpin06a says:

I like it.

insider32 says:

You can also wedge a (correctly sized) piece of wood in between the water pump pulley and the main pulley. That’s what I did and it worked pretty well. The wood gets “pinched” when the pulley tries to turn.

jj jackson says:

good technique,
would real mechanics use that technique for camshafts and crankshafts to?

Omar Chisolm says:

@richpin06a Hell yeah man lol. it seems verytime i go in there theres something new. i buy tools just for the hell of it even though i may not need them at that point and time =D.

richpin06a says:

You mean you have a little tent set up in the store….haha

Omar Chisolm says:

@richpin06a I stay in a Harbor Frieght Tool store the the sales they have on tools are awesome.

playstation2bigs says:

“Hey richpin … Jesus, man!” 😉

richpin06a says:

Just one.

richpin06a says:

Not important at all as i have been doing the same as you for a very long time and no pulleys have fallen off yet.

richpin06a says:

That is one of the oldest theological conundrums known to man which i do not have a answer to.

WhenImGoneCa says:

plus with that wobble extension you lost alot of torque

WhenImGoneCa says:

i got one from harbor freight and it was off by 7 digits. i returned and got another one and that one was 7 off as well. i went thru 5 of them and both off by 7 digits. got a 400$ one from snapon and it was dead on

tillicome2288 says:

now how important is to do this step cause i did the water pump job on my sl2 about a year ago and tighten by hand all the bolts even the water pump so far so good do i need to worry?

playstation2bigs says:

richpin06a do all dogs go to heaven ??

reap62 says:

thats silly just get a ratchet and guess its not like its a cylinder head

Erich Pink says:

Another great video!

LONGKNIFE1977 says:

do u own several saturns

Ravenstorm52 says:

They also have that strap wrench at home depot i believe its made by husky and has a lifetime warranty. Cant remember the price but was somewhere around $9.00 or less.Great tip btw

Wayne Manion says:

I am sure it is fine for this not-terribly-sensitive application, but in general you do not want to use any extensions, especially wobbly extensions when using a torque wrench.

No big deal here, but if you are torquing sensitive fasteners like head bolts avoid the use of extensions, especially wobbly extensions.

richpin06a says:

I do not know what size it is but it is harbor freight # 94119

georgemiamitaz says:

this video make my penis enraged

richpin06a says:

That wrench is a harbor freight special.

Omar Chisolm says:

@richpin06a very good. i was thinking what was the specs myself. Where yu get the wrench?
