Roger B. says:

do you have to take the transmission out to do this?

TOPOFFMAN says:

@FiremanCV I took my car to a Ammco shop. They checked it out and told me
that computer was not communicating. They think I have an electrical
problem. Would that cause the valve body to not work properly? They said
that it was in fail safe mode. BTW, my check engine illuminated at the same
time that my transmission problem started. Has only 51,000 miles on it.

FiremanCV says:

If you run into complications let me know Saturn’s are easy to work on

FiremanCV says:

@dsuaste23 Look at the link above for saturnfans There will be lots of info
on there regarding your situation..

MrJab4309 says:

Thank you So much!! I’ll be sure to inform you of the result!

FiremanCV says:

They are all the same

FiremanCV says:

@TOPOFFMAN Yes, the same valve body..

FiremanCV says:

@luisilloz1 Is your service engine light coming on at all ? When is the
last time you changed your filter & fluid ? Also, give me engine &
transmission size as well as year please. I will look into this for you..
It may be a solenoid problem, I will find out when you get back to me.

FiremanCV says:

@TOPOFFMAN Transmission will wine if low on transmission fluid before it
starts to slip. If your hearing a whine only on turns, then it’s power
steering pump.. Check the power steering fluid level..

chevroletrules1 says:

firemancv i have 1 question all solenoid are the same or all are diferent i
have a sc1 2001 and trans dont work reverse and when i aply drive in
ocacions betwen 1 and 2 gear knocks and neutralise what do you tink it can
be tanks

Diego Suaste says:

Hello, i was hoping that you might help me with an issue i have on my
saturn, the problem is that i have a 2000 saturn sl2 automatic with 130k
miles on it and everytime i shift into reverse it slams and sometimes the
slam is so hard that it turns off. this only happens with the reverse not
any other gears so i was hoping that maybe you have a solution to this
problem

luis gomez says:

@FiremanCV i change the oil and filter the first week it started doin’ this
it did’nt work its a nissan altima 00 4 cil service engine light is on
thank you bro

FiremanCV says:

@Iseekoutthetruth When was the last filter & fluid change? Your at about
the right mileage for a valve body rebuild 🙁 Are you the original owner?
The transmission may have a lot of wear and tear on it, so to speak.Have
you tested the solenoids? what are the readings? Take readings while
completely cold & while hot. Record the readings & let me know what they
are please.

Iseekoutthetruth says:

I have a 95 Saturn Sc2 every once in a while when I make sharp quick left
hand turns my car will rev high to about 3 1/2 thousand RPM;s and will not
shift until i pull over and stop and put it back into park and wait about
30 seconds and than my car will shift normal again, this only happens once
in a while tho, I have changed the fluid and filter and it has shifted fine
for about 3 months but once again it will act up again, if i shift manually
it drives fine my car is a automatic transmission

FiremanCV says:

@a12jgs Glad everything worked for you 🙂

FiremanCV says:

Solenoids can act up hot or cold, or both. That’s why it’s important to
test hot & cold. 🙂 Line & 2nd definitely. Why would you want to replace
4th? If they are more than 1 ohm from each other, then they should be
replaced, Based on what you posted above, only line & 2nd is bad. No reason
to replace something you don’t need to. 🙂 Make sure you do a transmission
filter & fluid change after replacing the bad solenoids. Hopefully your
valve body is still good. Good luck 🙂

Iseekoutthetruth says:

yup check it out had it tested everything looked fine, i fine that if when
driving if i shift it manually it drives just fine.

MrJab4309 says:

I ask because Reverse is not engaging…I assume the TCC is the reverse
solenoid?

AMABERRY1975 says:

Haven’t tested anything yet. Mine is on a Dirt Track Race Car and the car
was rolled a few weeks ago. Since then after all other repairs, the trans
has no torque in forward gears like it is starting out in 3rd or 4th.
Reverse has plenty though. I have posed on a few forums, but no answers
yet. How do go about testing the valve body by the way?

MrJab4309 says:

What is the TCC?

luis gomez says:

hey fireman i have a nissan altima at first it only shift 1st and 2nd gear
i took it to the transmission shop i left it therer for five hours they
told me they have to open it to find out whats wrong with it i said no and
when i drove home it only shift 3rd and 4th gear. is that a solenoid
problem? is automatic thank you

Iseekoutthetruth says:

No I have not checked that, I will try it. but my car drives normal it just
acts up once in a while

Kyle Gunner says:

junk yard is free!

TOPOFFMAN says:

@FiremanCV Also, I heard a slight whining sound, when making left turns for
a couple of weeks before the transmission quit.

Iseekoutthetruth says:

I have a 95 saturn, and just recently, when I am driving along and I slow
down to make a turn when I go to increase my speed after going threw the
turn, it seems to take a long time to shift. it has done this 3 different
times in a 3 month period, could this be a solenoid problem? it is a 95
Saturn sc 2 with automatic transmission, it has about 171,600 miles on it
now

FiremanCV says:

@AMABERRY1975 Do you mean test valve body? or test valve body solenoid ? If
you look at my other video, you will see how to test valve body in vehicle
🙂 Keep in mind, I have it removed to show how to test in the vehicle.. If
I tested in vehicle, it would have been too dark for me to film, lol

FiremanCV says:

@dsuaste23 check out saturnfansdotcom look up reverse slam cure by wolfman.
Let me know how you make out.

Iseekoutthetruth says:

@FiremanCV I am the second owner, I am going to change the filter this
weekend and fluid. how do you test the solenoids. do Ihave to take it aprt
to do that? if I have to take it apart should’nt i change it than? how do I
check it when it is hot, is there a area to do this with out having to take
it apart?

Omar Chisolm says:

@FiremanCV u told me before that the valve body for this car is the same
for my 98 sl1, so the gear order is the same, but which solanoid is the
drive(D) solanoid? is it 2nd gear?

FiremanCV says:

Have you checked the range selector switch on the back of the transmission.
Pull the one wire off, clean the contacts put back on. Would be easier if
you posted on saturnfans website, so I can include pictures.

FiremanCV says:

If you are half way mechanical, this is VERY easy to do. A used valve body
is a big gamble. A rebuilt will have updated parts and come with a
guarantee. Ebay has multiple places to purchase rebuilt units. Or you can
replace solenoids individually if you are on a budget

ironworker1721 says:

i appreciate the video-super cool-i can do this! My 2000 sl bangs into
reverse and i do not understand which solenoid is reverse–please help–and
thanks you are going to save me a fortune

Kyle Gunner says:

does anybody know if any Solenoid will work in any spot or does it half to
be a specific one for each slot?

Scott Bohlen says:

I replaced my solenoids and this car shifts like NEW!! what a huge and
amazing video for us Saturn Lovers. They all said I should replace the
Transmission… BAH! I say! My solenoids were all within the 1 ohm range
but still had the reverse slam and down shifting issue. Now It down shifts
solidly and so far it works GREAT! Thanks so much!

FiremanCV says:

TCC_ – Torque Converter Clutch. When is last time you changed the fluid and
filter? Also, you may want to try the saturnfans website and try the
reverse slam cure.

FiremanCV says:

Glad it helped you 🙂 If ya need anything else, let me know 🙂

FiremanCV says:

@luisilloz1 Give me a day or two, ill look into this for you..

Bob W says:

Thanks for your videos! Awesome! I have a problem slamming into 2nd, and
sometimes 4th. Do the external test and came up with different readings
when hot vs cold. When hot, I got 4.7 line, 6.2 2nd, 5.9 tcc, 6.2 4th, and
5.9 3rd. When cool, the external readings dropped a bit. Got the body open,
and all of them are 4.5-4.7 EXCEPT the 2nd gear. That’s a 9.5, clearly bad.
Why did the external readings differ so badly? Would you change the 4th
gear one too?
