300,000 miles is the most i have seen on the engine.If the diff pin stays in place the 5 speed should last as long as the engine.
Hello richpin, since I know you to do a lot of work on Saturn’s, I have a question for you. I have a 97 Saturn with 197,000 miles on it, engine seems to run pretty strong I was wondering how many miles can be put on one of those little 1.9 DOHC engines and how long do the transmissions last for before need major repair.
I would look at the connections at the battery.
My sl1 Saturn turns off while I’m driving and suddenly it turns back on.. Well the lights on the dashboard and everything. Do you know what could be the problem?
Something sounds like it is crossing over,bulb,socket.
Hey rich any idea why my right rear blinker would stop working when I press the brakes but when I pull the bulbs and press the brakes no problems? I replaced all the bulbs with new ones still no fix
Have you tried testing the turn signals right at the fuse box.If you check my video “Sequential Arrows for Car Side Mirror Turn Signal Part 2” at the 5:10 mark you can see me checking the output wires to the lights.
Hey Rich Thanks for all your Video’s, they are so very helpful. I have a 98 SL2 And only my right blinker doesn’t work after i tried replacing my whole fuse block under the radio (yet to find one at a junk yard the same as mine). Any Ideas as to why that would be?

Well seeing the speedometer is still working i think we can rule out the vehicle speed sensor.I think there is a possibility then that there is something wrong the odometer.
Your videos are awesome, I think I have watched almost all of your vedoes on Saturns.
I own a 2000 Saturn SL1. Yesterday while driving down the road my odemeter stopped working. All of the other gaugues still work fine but the odometer and trip odometer stopped working. Any thoughts on what might be causing this and how I can fix it.

I now have a new battle scar on my red 1996 Saturn SL2 today. My buddy at work was returning from lunch in a Crown Vic rental car and scraped the whole left side of my car with his front bumper as he turned into the parking space next to my car. I had a 4 inch tall, 6 foot long scratch from stem to stern of my Saturn. When I got home I cleaned all the panels with WD-40 and you can barely see the scratches now.
Father was a mechanic and grandfather owned a garage.At about 8 years old i started working on them.

It looks like a sound repair as opposed to putting a good used one on which will probably fail down the road.
Hey Rich, what do you think about the intake repair kit from CarSaturn? The nipple on my intake broke off and my mechanic is looking for options besides replacing the intake.
I got 167,000 and she is still humming right along.
