Excellent tutorial. I was able to follow everything very well. I too live
in Florida so windows up is extremly important. I have a window in the rear
that is not going down due to a broken lift. Just dont care to pay the
money to buy a new one. What I did was take the gray plastic piece from the
bottom of the switch from the passenger rear and put it on the crappy worn
driver front. It simply pulled out. It was attached from inside and
underneath by a small spring that stays attached. A smally amount of
pressure removed it. They are interchangable. I looked online and could not
find this piece by itself. Would be nice to only have to buy the 50 cent
plastic piece instead of the entire assembly if you choose to replace it.
Worked like a charm. Thanks a bunch!

In order to test the wiring you might need to remove the console but I
think you are correct. 99% of the issues you can just pop the control unit
out of the console. Being so used to removing the console on my Mazda I
assumed it would be required for the Saturn. I felt like an idiot after
realizing the 2 control units just pop right out. I’ll make a annotation in
the video. Good catch.

Chris Miller says:

Thanks for this. My issue was with the control switch, and watching your
video, I saw how to remove the switch assembly, and realized that I didn’t
have to remove the whole console, just pry it out. Thanks!

Chris Miller says:

Your video was tremendously useful. I saw how the switch assembly popped
out. I pulled the whole switch unit apart, cleaned the contacts, and it
works like a dream. I always hate pulling those consoles. Too many screws,
clips, etc. I usually break something. But thanks again.

useful video, I just had same problem today with my lw200 car. Where do I
purchase that glue? or is there any other powerful glue I can use?

Wish I wouldve seen your video first ,just finish doing this 30mins ago
,expect I just use the back rocker arm for the front . My wifes granddad
purchase the car for her sometime ago 2nd hand, having the same brake light
issues everyday, but knowing a possible fire could happen blows my mind
never was aware of if. From 6:58 to 7:25 the truth 100%. Wonder if Saturn
will still honor the recalls? Wife and baby girl riding around in a static
charge shorting death trap.

DJDevon3 says:

I know what you’re saying. It’s the only intro I have and decided to use it
for the Saturn stuff too. Kind of out of place for a Saturn repair video.
Oh well live with it? 🙂

Joe Kennedy says:

Thanks for the video! A replacement switch module is around 60 bucks! It
saved me time and cash. I appreciate you.

Just what I need to fix my saturn I have a L100 but looks like same set up

DJDevon3 says:

You can purchase J.B. Weld or J.B. Qwik from any local auto parts store.
The only difference is the curing time. J.B. Qwik is a much faster curing
epoxy. You can find both versions in the same size/quantity packages. I
used J.B. Qwik for this project but the curing time is still 8 hours. J.B.
Weld can take up to 2 days. It’s not actually a glue it’s an epoxy and
there are plenty out there to choose from but for this project J.B Qwik is
definitely the right one for the job. 😉

DJDevon3 says:

Yes and no. I believe Saturn does pay for recall work but they’ve offloaded
the actual work to GM service centers. You can contact Saturn through their
website and they should be able to tell you the process and where to get
recall work done. My mom’s tail light sockets look like they were put onto
a barbeque. Completely flash burned from sparking the same as the switches.
Definite fire hazard. Keep a fire extinguisher in the car at all times.

DJDevon3 says:

You’re welcome. That’s awesome.
