What oil filter goes in this car? The oil filter I used yesterday didn’t
click into the housing like yours did. The filter I used was loose and may
be the reason why my service oil light is still on.

I noticed you removed the drain plug before removing the filter. I’ve alway
at least loosened the filter immediately after the drain plug as it seems
to allow the oil to drain from the pan much faster. Kinda the same idea
when removing the smaller breather cap on a gas can when pouring gas into a
tank. I don’t remember where I learned to do this (many years ago) so I’m
not saying its the ‘correct’ way to do it – just wondering if I shouldn’t
be doing it this way for some reason ??

What was the part that you said was broken inside? something about taking
it out with a 10mm? My wife has one of these cars still and I hate it. I
never tried doing the oil myself because I refuse to work on it. but money
is tight and I want to know what I am doing before I get in there. I guess
my question is, if things are not broken and working the way they are
supposed to, it should go just like the video…. right?

i only put the plug in to hurry up the video and this is a video about how
to do it yourself btw just saying thanks for watching

Dave Zarodnansky says:

This is why nobody but me EVER changes my oil. Leaving that “thin stream”
of oil still coming out of the drain plug hole might save a few minutes,
and maybe even half a cup of oil – but the more dirty oil you get out of
the engine, the more DIRT you get out of the engine. Take the time, let it
drain, get the dirt out of the engine. As an experiment, I let the oil
drain AFTER that steady stream stopped – got out another half cup or so of
dirty oil – and that’s dirt you don’t want to leave!
