If you can’t use a salvage one because it needs programming to that individual car, wouldn’t a new one need that too ?

Grand Daughters Ion stopped running. Changed ignition switch did the relearn but no start no crank still. I found your video on this after the fact wish I would have seen before tackling mine! very informative. I have a question about the last small plugin connector (purple and orange wires) you removed . Mine a 04 Ion does not have anything connected to that. Do you know what that powers? Am i supposed to have something plugged into it? Also the problem I'm having is there is no 12v power to the ING SW 2 amp fuse even after changing the bcm. I guess it must be in that mess of wires going to the bcm. Suggestions?

If you replace your current BCM with a new one, does it require any kind of programming? Thanks,

And remember viewers that a used module cannot be installed on these vehicles , only new. Or you can choose to send yours out for repair as long as you've done adequate research. A new unit will require programming as well. If you choose to have yours repaired most places don't overwrite the vin or mileage so it should just be plug and play after reinstalling. If it does not start with your original unit turn the key to crank position and release the key , leave it like this for no shorter than 10 minutes , turn key off and retry. Nice video Richpin hope you don't mind me adding this . Cheers

Good video!

Looks like a nightmare to remove. How are you supposed to remember all the wiring harnesses you disconnected to get the BCM out? Definitely not a job for a rookie like me.
