Thanks for the video! This is something for me to do over the Holiday
break. I took my 2002 Saturn SL2 to have it examined awhile back and they
told me that I would need a new knuckle on the Front Driver Side. I heard
the word knuckle in this video. Is this the knuckle they were talking
about? If not, do you have a video that shows how to do this?
I’ve got a 250,000 miles on my Saturn and looking to keep it around until
it reaches past 320,000.
Hello, I love the video they are extermely helpful. I need to change a
bushing on the driver side lower control arm. Apparently the bushing is
split. what would you recommend being the best way to go about changing the
bushing?
I’m trying to replace the control arm on my ’95 SC2. I was able to get all
of the bolts off except the castle nut on the ball joint which would not
budge. The corners are somewhat rounded now. Would you recommend cutting
the bolt of with a reciprocating saw? Thanks!
Like richpin said, I just used to ratcheting tie-down to relieve the
control arm tension – It worked very well. I had to play with the tie-down
tightness until I could spin the loosened control arm bolt by hand. Harbor
Freight has them cheap.
DO you *really* have to drop the gas tank to replace the bushings on the
Rear Lower control arm on a Saturn L200 (2001)? I’m told that I have to do
that. Or can I get around it?
not a wine. this is something hitting something else. the ball bearings are
new. i didn’t relieve the stress on the sway bar BEFORE i took the ball
joint off. could this be the issue? the sway bar not being tight enough?
How do you know that the control arm needs replacing. Because when i turn
left, my passenger side wheel makes a grinding noise, but when im driving
straight its fine. Its a 93 saturn sc2.
Hey rich, I have a 2006 Saturn ion.. would I have to do the same procedure
as your going on this Saturn s series to get the bushings removed from the
lower control ARM?
@richpin06a Yeah I wasn’t sure of the difference between this stabilizer
bar and a sway bar. Others had told me they ran their car without a sway
bar, but were unsure if this was the same on the Saturn. Thanks…
These thing are a pile of shit. Just this Monday I had took take it to the
shop for a brake problem, then come to find out the frame is broke in half.
There has also been oilni

Is an alignment necessary after replacing one or both control arms?
If the car is a Saturn s-series i might consider replacing the whole arm
which is cheap with the added benefit of getting a new ball joint.

If it was me i would try cracking the nut with a chisel then remove the nut.

Using a winch just makes things a little easier.
Gotcha, if it makes life easier, then I may as well get one
Not at this time.

Love the accent
@samuelbrainsample When that control arm bolt rusts in that is when the job
gets a little tough.
Thanks for the video. Your video helped me fix my Mercury Topaz and it made
more sense than my Haynes Manual. The Come-Along trick worked great.

Is that a ham handwinch?
@dadoggy03 Im sure you figured it out by now, but did you try a decent
ratchet strap?

i hate his accent drives me up the wall
@newbrighton1961 Yes it sounds like a control arm ball joint or tie rod
problem.
@theycallmeidnam You might be able to use a prybar.
Was it there before the rebuilt.
Thanks for the video. This is gonna help me a lot 🙂
Weee
@harveydog2006 Could be sounds like a suspension part is worn under there
somewhere.
That could work couldn’t it. I have some fairly strong ones sitting around
already.
