I did replace the driver side axle and it fixed the rattling noise.

rosewell1983 says:

alot of these repairs seems straight forward….monkey see and monkey do.
Just remove old/bad parts and in with the new just in opposite order (and
remeber to take alot of pictures). I guess sometimes this is just not the
case, but here is what experience comes in handy. Wish i had an old car to
play with.

i have one car, but im not willing to do any “repairs” on it cause i risk
making things worse or render it unable to drive for days.

Cool vid dude

Hector Garcia-Martinez says:

Yes they do. But the noise comes from driving the car. It’s not a squeaking
noise, it’s more like a rattling noise.

rosewell1983 says:

where do you find information about the torque specs? that bolt has to be
xx newton and so on…i dont se anything in my car manual

Hector Garcia-Martinez says:

I sat the car on jacks and put it on drive, the passenger spins without me
pressing the gas peddle but the driver side doesn’t, the noise is from
underneath in the center because I was there and that’s where the noise was
coming from, while I was turning the wheels with my hands.

Hector Garcia-Martinez says:

On my escort, I hear a noise while diving but I cant tell which axle needs
to be repaired? I looked underneath the car and he driver side looks wet
but not ripped, so lifted the car with jacks and turned the car and the
driver side wheel barely spins! Could this mean it needs an axle???

fordwindsor351 says:

Shouldn’t you do the torqing after the car is down on the ground so that
there isn’t a preload on the part being replaced?

Eric Bdro says:

was it making a clunking/loose sound when you would hit bumps on the road?

great vid

Robert Schriner says:

Hey nice video thanks for sharring. I will mention one thing. You put the
bolt on backwards on the lowest bolt. If you look at your video you will
see where you insert the bolt it has horizontal lines on it and it’s
recessed on the other side for the bolt head not the nut.

Thanks for detailed and concise video, liked your extra tips. I think I
should be able to replace my lower control arm and ball joint and save me
some money after watching your video.

Smashing tutorial :-))

That vehicle didnt look too bad for rusty parts, i wanted to wipe those
slightly cruddy bolts with a greasy rag lol.

On my old motorbike i would clean any unprotected bolt then give it a light
coat of ordinary black gloss paint with a brush, helps keeps the rust away
so its easy to remove if needed.

Yep its a bit odd but so am i ha ha :-))

Big Mike says:

hey, Chris> WHat’s your torque wrench brand name, is that a 1/2, do you
recommend it? I’m looking to buy one. Why do you replace all the bolts with
new ones? is it because they come with lower arm kit? thanks
