How many mounts are there in a 89 sl1? Im trying to change them all…
I have a 2002 Saturn SL2, and when I shift it in any gear it rocks, it
rocks the hardest in reverse, it rocks when I’m trying and it shifts into
the first seond and so on gears. Even when I stop it rocks hard sometimes.
Could it be one of the mounts, if so, can you tell me which one it could
be? I was told it was probably the motor mount, but not sure which one or
how many there are. Help me please. Call me at 4143341419 if you can, thank
you.
And I have to take the wish bone mount off from the driver side in order to
get the transmission mount correct?
great vid. go Saturn! mine has 242,626 miles and acts like its brand new.
oh the clutch switch went out. its a 95′. lol
Thank u were helpful bro. Thanks .
question What Happen if I don`t change the transmission mounts?
I have the same motor in my sc2 where did you get the aftermarket intake
and did it add any power if so about how much
Gracias!!! por el video, me ahorre mucho dinero haciendolo yo mismo 🙂

@AT092 Read 1st comment then this one~!!!! Check both engine mount (top
left of engine bay) and transaxle mount to see if they are cracked or have
sagged. When replacing these, make sure to loosen the dog mounts and to
have the engine safely jacked up with soft peices of wook and a hydraulic
jack WITH JACK STANDS!!!!! Be safe, and if any more info needs to be stated
then please feel free to ask. Subscribe and good luck!!!!
“The customer” LoL
Good stuff dude! Still at saddleback for anything?
Do the studs need to be replaced?
whenever i stop the car and press on the gas i hear a clunk.. is that the
engine mount or Transmission mount? I have the same car you worked on in
this video.
Nice job
@AT092 When experiencing rocking from gear changing then you are definitely
in need of NEW MOTOR MOUNTS. I also suggest replacing the transmission
mount due to the fact that replacing all the mounts at the same time
insures that you will not have to take your car apart for a long time.
There is the main motor mount on the left side of the engine bay near the
AC compressor, the transaxle mount is behind the driverside front tire, and
the two dogbone mounts are under the car.
About how much would it cost to have this work done. I have a 1988 Buick
Park Avenue that has only 44,000 miles on it. Car runs perfect but when I
put in reverse it kinda ‘bangs and I was told it could be the mounts.
@DIYautotech when my car is warmed up and i change gears it shifts hard,
but sometimes when i let up off the breaks it shifts not toooo hard. Y IS
THAT? some ppl say the valve body is no good/clogged. i use full synth
fluids in the tranny. could it be this mount?
@DIYautotech when doin this both wheels have to be off the ground, or do i
jus need to jack up the tranny side?
I have one more question, then I’ll leave you alone, lol, is the transaxle
mount actually the transmission mount?
YOUR IN MY MOVIE MOM!!!1!!! 6:12
@AT092 Yes, just unbolt it from one side.
@miniwarrior7 Actually it takes no time at all, you just have to use a
little trick. Leave the two bolts holding the tranny mount to the
transmission “slightly” loosened. So when you lower the assembly down onto
the chassis, the tranny mount will slightly torque in whichever way it
needs to fit down into the hole. Once there you can tighten it all down.
Respond to this video… And what do you think about the reverse slam
theory, they said to get a transmission flush and fill, then put in an
additive and I think he said transmission lucas. After that, back the car
up against a brick wall or something sold, and put it in reverse up against
the wall, with the brakes off for 30 mins straight, and it will cure the
reverse slam. And I checked my motor mount, it looks cracked on the inside
the part by the engine.
thanks for the post, good stuff.
nice vid bro, really enjoide watching since im getng mjore nd more int auto
mechanichs keep up the good work
It would have been really nice to see how you got the Transmission Mount
off.. The frame wounld let me jack it up any higher..
@omanuder No Omanuder, you ARE WRONG because the light does not turn off
“randomly”. It happens for a reason. Via either bad ground, lose
connection, bad wiring, bad sensor, faulty readings, or because something
is actually wrong with a component. It may be “intermittent”, but never
RANDOM. I want you to understand that things always happen for a reason.
Every tech will tell you the same. Hook a scanner up and lets diagnose this
one for ya! Whats the code come up as?
can you tell me the exact tool that I need to replace the mounts?
