How to fix Saturn Sky solenoid actuator (P0010 P0011)

If you have a Sky then at some point you will most likely face this issue. If you fall into the 85% of Skys that are affected by this problem and have an ECM indicating P0010 or P0011 then this is the perfect solution to completely fix the problem. The skys were great cars without a doubt but the one thing that Saturn skipped out on was the solenoid actuator for the VVT cam shaft control. This problem is referenced multiple times on SkyRoadster.com and there is a simple fix to it. Simply replace the solenoid and your back to normal! If you continue to run the engine with the faulty solenoid it won’t destroy your engine but it can cause issues that you just won’t want to deal with. Pay the $25 for the new part and install it yourself, it’s not hard at all. Here are some links to the solenoid on the roadster forum page. Remember that this problem can happen even if the engine is still low in mileage (my last sky it happened at 50,000 miles and this sky it is happening at 40,000). If you have any questions about this then please feel free to leave a comment.

Thanks for posting! I have a 2006 Solstice and I kept getting the P0011 error. I just replaced it and I'm hoping this will get rid of that error!

Thanks a lot for helping out.  I had this happen to me already TWICE, one for each sensor and my car only has 50K on it.  Seriously GM.  Airbag sensors (at least this one's recalled now yay!), these solenoids, and the door strikers.  dadfuq wuz u thinkin?

Thanks for the video. Just switched out both an hour ago. The problem is still there. Do I need to clear the codes first?

Job Done Right says:

Did you have to remove the negative on the battery? nice video
