How -To: Changing Spark Plugs on a 1998 Saturn SL1 Pt. 1

A cheap yet very important maintenance item to take of. I called the stealer (dealer) and they said that it would cost $170.00 to change the spark plugs on m…

Yes you can do that and be perfectly fine. It will add to the cost of the
job but there is no such thing as “too new” when it comes to car parts. I
personally don’t do that because I’m broke and plugs almost always wear out
faster than wires. Yes, putting the wrong wire on the wrong plug would be a
problem, the easiest way to avoid that is when you’re changing the plug
just change one at a time and that way you have the best of both worlds.
You save money and no mismatching =D

Amabo Kcarab says:

ummm…ok but you need to inform people not to mix up the plug wires after
removing them. Make sure you replace each wire to its original plug or the
engine will be misfiring all over the place. What happens if I mix up spark
plug wires? the car will run like crap (rough idle and misfire). And if you
don’t know what ‘runs like crap’ means, you’ll know that it now doesn’t
sound or feel (shakes more) the same as it did before. Rule of thumb when
changing wires: Change them one at a time!

@omar851000 NICE! Glad I can help. I’m planning on doing the brake pads and
rotors soon so if that’s something people might be interested in seeing
I’ll make a video of it. HAPPY WRENCHING!

arramad says:

why on earth would you do that in the dark!

CCAAASSSCCAAAA says:

No problem. Thanks for watching! Isn’t it amazing how much money you can
save when you do things yourself? Now take that extra money and take your
mom/gf/wife out to dinner =D.

When you screw it in, how can you tell how far to screw?

wrycatcher1961 says:

Great info – thanks – affordable fix for my old Saturn that burns oil and
needs plugs twice a year – FYI, remember not to over-torque the plugs on
installation.

Ayesha Noor says:

Hey thanks a lot for this great video man. You just saved me $200!:)

CCAAASSSCCAAAA says:

@joesimmons90 Nope. Not possible. If it is then you had a problem before
even thinking about changing the plugs.

CCAAASSSCCAAAA says:

@mrbfrog Thanks. Glad I could help.

CCAAASSSCCAAAA says:

@joesimmons90 It’s just like any other thing that you screw in. It’ll get
tighter as you screw it in. DO NOT OVER SCREW THOUGH. It just has to be
snug. Don’t worry, they will not loosen through time. It’s actually more
advantageous to not tighten them enough than to over tighten them and ruin
the threading in the block.

CCAAASSSCCAAAA says:

It’s not “dark” the lighting just isn’t the greatest. I don’t need much
light to do this job.Heck I only “need” light to show the onlookers how to
do perform the tasks. I needed to do this before I got my car smogged so I
figured I’d share the experience with those who might benefit. Thanks for
watching.

CrazyWedz says:

Nice info. Thanks!

Joe Simmons says:

@CCAAASSSCCAAAA Is it possible that they fall into the engine?
