thanks for the video, it’s just what I needed as my coolant light stays on. The temps and gauges are normal just the light. I also found out today that the backup PRNDL fuse (#15 in the manual) will not allow a connection for the emissions test.

Woozyization says:

I’ve got an 05 Saturn and my temp tries going up when I’m going slow or stopped, my fan isn’t working at all, you could check that.

Hey Man my 04 ION Sedan’s temp gauge stays in the middle while driving..but then starts to rise to hot sitting still or driving at less than 15 mph. is it the thermostat or the sensor..hit me back please

andrea huskey says:

I’m no mechanic just a guy attempting to save a buck, but you can take it down to the local midas and get a diagnostic for pretty much free, and that should help you narrow it down. I hope this helps

J Bryant says:

Hey Man I drive a 2004 Saturn Ion and when I’m driving the temperature gauge goes down. But If I idle or coast slowly with little speed it heats up. Do you think its the sensor or the thermostat. Any ideas..

Adam Donnelly says:

this is a good vid. really helped me. Thanks!

andrea huskey says:

Good stuff, it’s always a good idea to clean or change the tank with sensor. still better than the four hundred the mechanic wants.

Geoff McGuire says:

I replaced mine today. The socket size is 3/4in deep socket at least on the 04 ion 3 sedan. I didn’t have one but used an open end 3/4 wrench. It worked just takes a few minutes extra to loosen and tighten the sensor.

Coolant Level Message or Temp “light”? Assuming you checked Boiling/Freezing Temp to confirm the coolant itself is OK… You might be in the same boat as me and need to replace or clean your Surge Tank. Maybe.

lgoamity says:

Thanks for the heads up on where the Temp Sensor is… I’m going to be replacing my ION’s surge tank in the coming days (Getting a Coolant Message) as the Tank’s Sensor is likely bad and cleaning it I’ve been told is usually 50/50. I assume the area near the sensor is also the area where the Tank’s hose connects to the Engine… Been told that is a better place to disconnect the Tank (with Hose attached) vs trying to disconnect at the tank (Real PITA I’m told).

kmacnumber2 says:

Thanks for the video, my wife’s coolant light has been on for a while now. Looks like an easy fix. Thank you.

andrea huskey says:

the socket size was different from my original, but the screw teeth were the same. So it fits just the part that you socket in is slightly dfferent . I don’t remember the sizes. Sorry

andrea huskey says:

No problem

nanaeva1 says:

Thanks a lot..it’s really nice of you to post this information!!

FOURensicRED says:

How did you adjust the size of the new sensor with the socket wrench?

AFMountaineer2000 says:

Is the location the same on a 07 model Ion?

andrea huskey says:

no problem, enjoy no lights flashing on your dash
