2008 Saturn Outlook- How To Replace the Front Struts

One more in a series of repairs to our 2008 Saturn Outlook. After 98,000 miles the front left strut blew a seal (insert penguin joke here) and it was getting to be an annoyance. Ordered a new set from www.rockauto.com and figured I’d make a movie about it. Enjoy!

Remember SAFETY FIRST!! Always use jackstands when you raise a car off of the ground!

Thanks for the video on the struts now I am working on the mass air flow sensor is the any thing I need to do before I start taking apart

Tyler Lurie-Spicer says:

Thanks for the video. I now feel confident enough to try this job myself and All I've done on my own so far are my brake pads.

It's rare to see guys doing videos from home with such good shots and editing…. and all the "Pro" shops with videos make it seem easier said than done. (Assholes didn't even mention the splined bolts!)

Any suggestions or pointers on how to select a good model of struts?

Also is there any reason why you put the jack stands closer to the middle of the car rather than on the sides? If so, Where are you putting them exactly?

I've got a 2007 Saturn that I never want to let go so I'll really appreciate all you post with your vehicle.

Ken!!! Great video my friend! Good to see you!

Funny how when the camera goes on we forget some of the simplest terms. I just did that on my HHR and it would have been way easier and cost me less time to get the complete strut tower assembly.

Jerry's This and That says:

Well done KT and glad you didn't lose your nuts doing that job 😛

Not a bad job at all. You made it look easy but I bet if you didn't mention the splined strut bolts guys would be reefing on them big time. LOL
