This just happened to me today on my 2006 Saturn vue, allowing only what felt like second gear working. hopefully this is the fix and I’ll save a lot of money. Thanks in advance.

Cameron St.Michael says:

This helped a ton in getting my wife’s 2005 Vue working again. Saved a lot on labor, and the part was only $40 and was in stock at a local dealer. HUGE LIFE SAVER!!! Thanks!

djkeithdasalla says:

Hi Michael, wow im really late here. I just took my time and took it apart. The part that the cable goes into. The top plastic parts lifts up. I didn’t know that til someone sent me an note about here. Its been a month so im sure you got it going.

djkeithdasalla says:

Hello 1a9r8j7, sorry for the lateness. Try the GM dealer in your area. They can look it up. Hope that helps.

1a9r8j7 says:

Thanks for the video! I have a somewhat similar problem in my 2007, but… no one has any of the linkage parts. In fact, no one even has a record of there being a manual transmission option for that year. Where were you able to get those?

Michael Garcia says:

I ordered and received my part this week. I attempted to replace the bushing after work but quickly saw the shifter housing really protects the bushing, how did you get to it to replace it?

djkeithdasalla says:

Hey Melissa5436, your welcome and thx’s.

melissa5436 says:

your broken shifter story sounded almost word for word like mine and anyway thanks for the video, you just made my life much easier. YOUR AWESOME

djkeithdasalla says:

Hey Michael, my shifter was the same way til it broke. I think it was the bushing. After i changed it, it was smooth again.

Michael Garcia says:

I have a 2005 Vue and bought the repair manual that covers 2002-2007 Vues. I wanted to ask if your problem started with a stiff shifter before it broke? Mine is stiff and I’m wondering if it’s this simple bushing or the actual cable.

djkeithdasalla says:

You are so welcome…hehee…my giant hands could not fit in the shifter area.

djkeithdasalla says:

Your welcome, glad you got it done, take care.

evilpixy says:

Thanks for the part # and instructions! I just fixed my 05′ myself. I couldn’t go in reverse and going in the other gears was tricky, it kept popping out if I wasn’t holding onto the bottom as well. I had to go like that for 3 days. Ugh.

Jaime Quijano says:

I just got mine from the dealer… i’m about to go outside n change the precious thing. Your video helped. Thanks a bunch! Just not sure why you had to pull the surrounding stuff off.

djkeithdasalla says:

Hi April, YAY!! Your so welcome. Sorry for your Saturn trouble but glad you found my vid. Good luck on you fix.

April James says:

Keith,
Thanks so much. Your Video saved my life, and the life of my 2004 vue. thanks for puttiing the part number in your video I couldnt have found it with out you….. 🙂

djkeithdasalla says:

Right on Heather G. Your AWESOME!! We saved some dough alright. Have a great day.

heathergaritson says:

I got it all on 🙂 Was pretty simple. Popped the clip off the cable, popped the new one on and then the shifter just snapped into place 🙂 It was so easy! The mechanic at the Cadillac Dealer, told me exactly how to do it. Lol. Thanks for the video. Let me know, it was easier than paying $200 bucks to tow it and labor!

djkeithdasalla says:

Hi Laura, did you ever get your car fixed?

djkeithdasalla says:

Oh no, hope ya fixed it.

djkeithdasalla says:

Saaaaaweet!

djkeithdasalla says:

Hi boizerock, did ya fix it? Hope so. Thx for note, take care.

djkeithdasalla says:

Hahahaha you go girl. Good luck on the fix. If you plan the change out the whole thing. The part that is connected to the cable. The inner part, pulls up and out. Let me know if you have trouble. If i can find my old part i’ll do a quick vid and post it.

djkeithdasalla says:

Hi Wayde, maybe the way you fixed it is blocking the shifter? Also check your cables.

heathergaritson says:

My 2005, looks exactly like this. I have over 200,000 miles on mine. It just broke, last week. The car repair and parts shops, look at me like I’m stupid and tried to sell me cables. BOTH cables. Ok, Yes, I’m a girl, but I’m not stupid. If my cable was broken, I wouldn’t be able to hook that cable on and get 1 & 3 gear. From your video, I called GM and they have the part in stock. $37.00. I’m going to go put this thing in MYSELF and take it back to the garage and tell them, I don’t need ya!

Wayde White says:

This Exact same thing has happened to me today. I’ve found a makeshift way to fix the problem temporarily while I get the part sent to me,and now I’m not able to put the car into reverse. Is this common? I’m lost.

djkeithdasalla says:

Hi dropdemtegs042, it lifts up. Kind of a snap on and off. Sorry im at work at the moment. When i get home (if you didnt get it already) i’ll make a quick vid and show it.

JImmy H says:

how do you remove the whole black adjuster? im having a hard time with it

djkeithdasalla says:

Wow, AWESOME!! Glad you caught my vid for the answer.

djkeithdasalla says:

Hey bobbyrogersbr, alright, im gonna take your word for it, if im in the neighborhhood im stopping by for dinner…lol. You should make the vid’s if you do something. Someone out there may need it. Anyway, your very welcome and thanks for the kind remarks. Take care see ya soon….lol.

bobbyrogersbr says:

2006 vue, you have honestly saved people thousands of dollars, you have got me wanting to post videos to help others, i should have videoed my fix for you to see, but im not taking it back apart haha, thanks again, you ever near myrtle beach, ill take yall to dinner.

bobbyrogersbr says:

happened to the my 2008 vue, leaving the market about 5 miles from home with my 4 year old daughter. Wiggled the stick and luckily got it in 5th and drove home riding the clutch from the stoplights. I watched your video that night. The next day i took that piece all the way out by unsnapping from cable. I found all the pieces, glued them together with locktight and drilled 2 holes and inserted to small screws. BETTER THAN NEW. thanks so much for the video. Vue had 84000 miles.fixed for $1

djkeithdasalla says:

Cool Nate, glad my video helped you out.

Nate Ahrensfeld says:

This video is very helpful!
This happened to me yesterday on my way to work but I had to drive around in third gear until I could get to the dealership today. It broke at 128,400 miles but I’m back on the road thanks to your video. Thanks a billion!

djkeithdasalla says:

Hey ChelMJT, cool and your welcome. Good luck on the fix.

Abraham Nicasio says:

Lol funny how this video’s been saving us a lot of money, and most of us see it right on the day that it happened 😛 just happened to me to day, I had to push my vue for about 3 blocks before I took the plastic apart and realized I could’ve done the same thing (put it on 1st), I’m off to the dealership thanx for posting it

boizerock says:

I bought my Vue about six months ago and noticed the stick shift felt strange on my test drive, but bought it anyway. Last night this part broke while we were out but I managed to hold it together by hand and shifted while my wife drove home. Dug into it deeper this morning and found that this part was broken and someone had fixed it by wrapping it with massive amounts of electrical tape! Anyway, thanks for the video, now I’ll fix it right!

djkeithdasalla says:

Righton Ceaser1st, it’s cause the mechanic’s wanna make a million bucks off of all of us anyway, glad this vid helped you out, you are so welcome and have a Happy Thanksgiving.

ceaser1st says:

AMAZING! I can honestly say that if it weren’t for your video, I would have paid close to $500 for the repair and not had a clue that this was what needed to be done or that I could have done it myself! A mechanic told me they don’t sell just the part that’s needed. I went to Google and found your video and was blown away! I had the part within 24 hours and this self-proclaimed girly-girl had it fixed in less than an hour! THANK YOU SO MUCH for posting this video and saving the day! 😀

Tj Weber says:

Just happened to me today. $37.00 for the part now. Thanks for the info.

dirge9 says:

This happened to me today. Fun stuff.

djkeithdasalla says:

lovinthe1320 says:
