I used a piece of 8 gage wire and did the by pasd on the starter relay no
problems 6mo strong !
All you have to do is disconnect the negative battery cable for like 5-10
seconds and you should hear an electronic whine and then reconnect and
viola. I learned this from a certified GM mechanic when my saturn did it
Thanks for information!
I had the same problem. I replaced the ignition starter switch. Found a vid
by richpin06a on replacing the switch. Wasn’t has difficult as I thought.
You will need a 5.5mm nut driver. I ordered the new switch on Amazon. Took
me less than a hour to complete. No starting problems since then.
The switch cost $40.00.
yes! Can it just be by-passed or is there something that needs to be
replaced? GM mechanic has quoted almost $500.
okay i did this but my light doesnt flash but still would turn over when i
wait
@jacketman22 Makes sense. The odometer has worked normally (so far) on my
LS1.
to me is seems like if you shorted the battery you short the capacitor that
takes ten minutes to discharge on the security system. Its an electrical
issue just fix it and move on.
@kylesgrandam The battery might be worth more than the car at this point…
I have 219,000 plus miles on the car. Just waiting around to see how far it
will keep going. Appreciated your input!
is the LS2 93 model
The LS1 is a decent car (mine is up 240,000+). Can’t go wrong with a
Toyota, though. It depends on the condition of both vehicles.
I have the same car and it does the same thing but yesterday it did that I
waited like always but this time it didn’t turn on wat u think might be
wrong with it
not ls1 or even sl1, its an sl2. Look at the gauges.
@drifta96 It is an LS1. i brought it brand new in October 1999 (2000 LS1).
The Saturn models look very similar from those years.
@egn83b The dealer never helped. They offered to look at the car for a
hundred buck’s minimum and couldn’t guarantee any success. The CEO’s
office, (Wagner at the time) didn’t care. Basically told me to”deal with
it.”
This is 100% exactly what is happening on my pos 2000 ls1. Thx for the
video!
@nik5646 Best of luck!
you do realize its just not saturn Every single GM vehical has this in
it… very stupid sit there for fucking 10 minutes while it resets its self
What does it mean when the two fill water coolant and fill battery water
lights start blinking at the same time continuously? There’s no staring
problem but the windshield wipers wouldn’t shut off, so I had to put a
external on/off switch run from the fuse box. Now the lights are blinking
but it’s not overheating or the battery isn’t having any troubles. Checked
it everyway possible with multimeter. The flashing has no pattern, I can’t
find one. No pauses, speed changes, etc. WTF is it?
I have a 2002 SC2 which has started this recurring problem. The first time
I had it towed…and it started after it was unhooked. There were no icons
showing on the dash before or after. The 2nd time the security icon came on
solid but the car started for about 2 weeks until yesterday. Did you find a
non-dealer solution to this small but big problem? Thanks
You’re Welcome!
You can by pass it in mine it is in the fob box in the corner panel on the
passenger side back seat you remove that and find the wires and connect
them i use a spare wire to do it so i don’t have to cut them and can undo
it when ever i want
@farmerinchico Best of luck with it
trust me
I bought a Saturn one time because of the good fuel mileage. My 1999 Saturn
LS1 4 cylinder got 22 mpg…. I promptly sold it for 1900
@farmerinchico oh, you have a L series, gotcha.
Didn’t work for my car.
@egn83b This car has given me the ‘anytime now, failure imminent’ feeling
for a few years already. It keeps going, though…
i have the SL2 and when it does that… all i do is turn it off then turn
it to the run, shift to Neutal… start the car right up… Win..
We have a 99 SL2 with manual trans. I removed the radio and triggered the
anti theft system. Anyone know where to disarm the system? Our SL2 has 223k
miles and no one is dumb enough to steal it. Less than 30 mins after trying
to start it, I figured out how to bypass it like a kill switch now. Starts
every time no problem, just dont like hitting the switch.
@Acogsniper666 All the mechanics, I spoke to regarding the problem didn’t
want to touch the car. Even the dealer couldn’t guarantee a solution.
Richpin06a is another YouTube channel. He does a lot of work on Saturn’s.
It might be worth contacting him.
@CCWHOOSIER People have mentioned it’s a problem on other GM products
(Oldsmobile Alero, Saturn Ion). I wouldn’t have been surprised if it
involved SL1’s.
@egn83b Appreciate the information! I’am not going to put much more money
into this car. It’s up to 218,000 miles. It’s like you said (at this point)
drive until it stops.
@farmerinchico also junk yards carry tons of saturns because they die all
the time so you can go to a “you pull it yard” and take off with an ecu out
of the same car so you might fix the car cheaply for a few bucks I do it
all the time I can get computers for cars so cheap its not funny but yea
drive it tell it die in hell.
@hornick18 SATURNS HATE YOU, IF YOU TAKE CARE OF THE DAMN CAR, U WOULDNT
HAVE PROBLEMS IDIOT!!!!
@scottschoolcourt And you got it to start while it was flashing?
