ok so on the lcd screen do you connect the points on the front where the screen is or on the back where nothing is or does it matter? and when the points are lined up should the big open triangle fit over the white clip that holds the lcd in? because on mine where it looks like the points line up, the open triangle is no where near the clip. please help thanks

Pencil eraser works good for cleaning contacts like that. =]

toran875 says:

I fixed mine today and it works great. Was a bit tricky and took a couple of hours. Be sure to check if you have the sid 1 or 2 cable because my sid was marked 2 but I had the sid 1 cable.

Jay Wells says:

I always start from the top edge. Also if you have the old one you can use a pencil and mark the location of the contacts on the small matte black portion of the lcd screen.

Spike20101000 says:

Got to ask, having a SID 1 looking to do this repair, looking at the contacts on the LCD, there only seems to be half as many as there are on the cable, I noticed you had the SID 1 cable too so thought I should ask how the hell do you line them up? I keep looking and far left and right just seems to have loads of the ribbons contacts floating aimlessly.

Any help or advice???

How well has the pixel fix solution held up?

ohms1986 says:

Use a flat head screw driver and gently and will pop straight out be patient though you don’t want to scratch or break the trim.

This video shows the inside of the display unit a lot more than I did in my video. Good work!

why don’t you show us how to take SID of from the car…it’s bigg problem to me :)

cipmars says:

Almost all of the european cars between ’94 and 2003 have these problems with the displays. Excuse my French, but FUCK SIEMENS VDO FOR THAT.

porterlu says:
