Hi Tim, I have a 06 9-5 and my valve cover is stuck on big time, I see that
yours came off easily, not mine. I’m afraid to hit it too much with the
rubber mallet. Is there an easy way to remove a stuck on valve cover?
is this the same procedure for the B204 (99 9-3 SE)
Really nice vids Jay. I’m a Saab owner. My engine failure lamp just lit up
a week ago. So I asked my local auto shop to examine the faults. They found
out that the DIC needed to be exchanged. They also indicated that the valve
cover gasket was getting worn out. A total cost of approximately 20,000
Swedish Crowns (3,000 USD) to fix. You make this rocket science look really
easy. That’s great.
Yes i am having problems to find a lower ball joint for a 2003 saab 9-5
removal and installation.
what are the torque specs/pattern for the bolts?
why did he not wipe and prepare before installing the new gasket…a
rag…a little brake cleaner…a little wiping?….I’m just sayin’
Do you know where I might find a replacement for the check valve you
mention around the 44 second mark? I’ve seen replacements but they are sold
as a hose kit for ridiculous prices.
That’s because a oil pan gasket for the B205 does not exist. Your engine
doesn’t use a preformed gasket- it uses anaerobic gasket maker. Look up
loctite anaerobic gasket maker.
Hey jay wells ive seen ur videos and there very helpful. My question is i
changed my saabs oil from regular to full synthetic and my car is now
leaking oil and i find myself filling it up constantly any idea what i
might need to replace? Thanks for your time and keep up the saab videos.for
our saab lovers out here
hey do you have a email i have some questions about turbos
having no luck trying to find a oil pan gasket for a 2001 93se any luck
thanks
Hi there great video. Do you know if this is the most common cause of smoke
upearing under the hood of the car?
Very grateful for this posting. Thanks a lot!!
How hard is it to drop in new cams?
So much easier than a Porsche 944.. ha
Hi Tim I have a ton of them laying around email me and we can definitely
work out something. Otherwise you can buy them new from a online retailer
like eeuroparts
Don’t know if you touched on it in another video, but it’s a good time to
clean out the PCV baffle and replace the upper chain guide in the valve
cover while it’s off. That guide gets really hard with heat and age and can
transmit timing chain noise.
If there is sludge, you said something about “dropping the ???”. Can you
explain what you mean by that? what the routine should be. Also, can you
recommend a Gasket? better recommend gasket manufacturers NOT to use?
Nice video.. anything on a crank shaft sensor?
Do you know where I can find new bolts for the valve cover have some badly
Corroded ones that I should replace
Isn’t there supposed to be a special amount of tourque when u screw back
valve cover? Sorry for bad english
Dental floss! nice tip!
mine is jeffwilcox40@yahoo.com
When would you do such a procedure?
Thanks for the video on removing the gasket , very very helpful and very
well put thanks
The Oil Pan. There are some good write ups about sludge in a B235 or B205
engines and the major concern is that sludge plugging up the oil pick up
screen that supplies the oil pump. If this screen is plugged it can rob the
engine of oil pressure and can engine failure. If it was me I would drop
the sump on every older SAAB. It’s not a hard thing to do and gives peace
of mind.
You’d want to replace the valve cover gasket when it leaks oil down the
side of the cylinder head and engine block. Over time the gasket can loose
it’s ability to seal and begin to fail.
Yup, the proper torque rating is 15Nm (11ft-lb) for valve cover. I forgot
while doing the voice over, so thanks for reminding me.
Thank you. Do you know how well you can see down into the timing chain area
with the valve cover off? Can you see if any of those plastic guides are
broken?
