SAAB 900 Clutch Install – Ep.11

SAAB 900 Clutch Install – Ep.11

This video replaces a previous version Ep.11 to include an important correction on the location of the release bearing. The bearing must be outside the rubber boot of the slave cylinder assembly so it comes in contact with the fingers of the pressure plate.

Changing the clutch on a SAAB 900 is not that difficult. See how to assemble the components and how I installed all the components in the transmission housing.

So Lee, I am curious – how did the thing shift (and sound) when you ran the car with the release bearing on the inside of the rubber boot?

RETROCAR STYLE says:

Question…..the shaft that runs through the middle of the slave cylinder, clutch assembly, does it have threaded holes on each end and if so what size threads are they? M10? M12? M13? etc…. Thanks.

Tyler Webb says:

Lee, thanks for the videos. So sad that this one meet its end so quickly. I have a question for you – I'm at the last stages of replacing my clutch but I can't seem to get the input shaft through the snap ring and snug. Did you have any difficulty putting yours back into place? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Tyler

Brian Clevenger says:

the handle off if a 5 gallon bucket works well for holding the fingers on the plate depressed
